Our Idaho Pasture Pigs are growing like weeds, and we have a great selection of breeding prospects and feeders ready to go!

Whether you’re looking to start a breeding program, expand your herd, or raise your own pasture-raised pork, we’d love to help you find the right fit!

🧄 GARLIC PLANTING DAY IS HERE!! 🧄

Our final planting task of the year! Garlic planting officially signals the end of another growing season here at Schomaker Farms. 🌱🍂

Today we’re breaking apart garlic bulbs and getting thousands of cloves into the ground, where they’ll spend the winter before growing into next summer’s harvest!

🎃 The farm stand is OPEN 10–2 today!

🐷 Come visit the pigs and other farm animals!

🎨 FREE Pumpkin Painting | 10 AM–2 PM
A local woodshop teacher generously donated a beautiful collection of wooden pumpkins for kids to paint, and the Schomaker Food & Farm Literacy Foundation is providing the paint! Stop into the greenhouse and get creative!

🐷 Meet the Piglets | 10 AM–2 PM
Our Idaho Pasture Pig babies will be hanging out in the greenhouse! These little ones are also looking for their next pastures. Interested in raising your own pork? Come meet them and ask us all your questions!

🍩 Eat ’Em Up Mini Donuts | 10 AM–2 PM
Fresh, warm mini donuts make every fall farm visit a little sweeter!

🌱 𝐁𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐱 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲!

A little throwback today, because we realized that while we’ve shared the exciting news about our nonprofit, we haven’t really explained what it means!

Education has been at the heart of Schomaker Farms since day one. As a Registered Dietitian with a background in community nutrition education, helping people connect with their food was one of the reasons I wanted to get into agriculture in the first place.

Over the past six seasons, we’ve welcomed students, families, and community members for field trips, Story Time, hands-on animal experiences, nutrition education, and so much more.

We’ve tried new things, learned what works, and continued improving along the way.

𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 & 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧?

Because we want these experiences to reach more people and continue growing beyond what Ryan and I can personally provide through our farm.

The Foundation is a separate nonprofit dedicated to making agricultural education more accessible through programs, partnerships, grants, and community support.

Our long-term dream is to sustainably employ a full-time agricultural educator who can bring meaningful learning experiences to children and families, both on the farm and throughout our community.
