Happy New Year from Fairhaven Farm!
2025 was a jam packed year. Here is a TON of pictures I cant help but share.
Last February we got to meet Jean-Martin Fortier at the Marbleseed conference. He is a huge inspiration and we were so fortunate to get to hang with him and share our farm story.
We also launched our in-person immersion course we called, “Growing Your Good Life”. Which involved remodeling our downstairs into a classroom! Thanks to our first cohort for joining us, it was an amazing experience. We’re looking for folks to join us this season so help us spread the word!
A few months later we welcomed a flock of sheep to our farm. Shout out to Farm Sol for raising beautiful sheep! We can’t get enough of these little critters—I held back on sharing too many photos. The sheep have taught us so much about our land and we are looking forward to many more seasons with them.
The greenhouse season was great too! Lots of returning customers came out to the farm for their starter plants. Shortly after that we fired up the oven for Pizza Nights!
We welcomed over 2,000 people to the farm last summer for our pizza nights! Wow! Hard to believe, and our pizza crew absolutely crushed it! Thanks Abby, Justin, Kari, Kristin, Kimberly, Julia and everyone else who helped us host our best season yet!
Our Savor dinner was a hit too! We will never forget Kayla Pridmore showing off her amazing paella skills. Such a fun experience for our guests and for us!
The absolute highlight of the season was going to Farm Aid. We felt like rockstars and have never felt so honored to be farmers! A whole stadium lit up with positive energy and love for farmers all across the state. What a thrill to have our work lifted up in this way!
We finished out the season with some major changes too. Emily and I both accepted new jobs. Emily with Marbleseed doing their graphic design and John with Minnesota Farmers Union as a membership outreach staff. These remote positions will support our livelihood so we can continue to invest our energy into the farm. We’re so grateful for these new positions!
Finally, after a fall retreat with our farmer friends from Farm Sol and Agate Acres in Grand Marais we turned a roadtrip to Kentucky into pilgrimage to visit the Wendell Berry Center. We got to meet members of the Berry family and found some super cool rare books of his. So the season was bookended with connecting with another huge inspiration in our farming career!
We are grateful for our beautiful life and all of the wonderful people who are a part of it. As we sit with the fresh feeling of the New Year and all its potential we will make the aspirational prayer we say over every meal, “May all beings be well, well fed, and have enough to share”.
Cheers to a new year!
