Such a nice surprise seeing Willow and Ruby just across the fence this evening, wandering along with their herd. Always good to see my two girls enjoying life with more room to graze. Seeing them like this reminds me that moving them back to Swiss Oaks Farm was the right decision.

We got over 3 inches of rain in just two hours today at Sycamore Grove!

Everything got a good soaking, and the animals took it in stride—some found cover, while others didn’t seem to mind.

Tonight the farm is wet, quiet, and peaceful. Just another day at Sycamore Grove.

Oliver and Laurel are happily enjoying their evening hay and a little grain—the perfect way to end the day.

There’s something so peaceful about watching these two settle in for dinner. Simple moments like this are some of our favorites around the farm. 🫏🫏

There’s just something special about evening visits with these two. 🤎🐂

I stopped by to see Willow and Ruby this evening, and of course I couldn’t come empty-handed. They were more than happy to meet me at the fence for a few cattle cubes — and I was just as happy to stand there and spoil them for a little while.

Although Willow and Ruby are now back with their original herd at Swiss Oaks Farm next door, I am happy knowing they have plenty of room to graze, the companionship of their herd, and that I can still walk over for visits like this.

Sometimes the simplest farm moments are the sweetest — two familiar faces at the fence, a handful of treats, and a quiet evening in the pasture. ❤️

Saddle fitting day for Lady! 🐴🤎

We were excited to have Matthew Markel with Leg Up Saddlery, an independent Western saddle fitter, out at Sycamore Grove today to help Lady and me find the right Western saddle.

Matthew took the time to carefully measure Lady, evaluate her shape and movement, and explain what we should be looking for in a properly fitting saddle—for both Lady and me.

I’m sharing a photo and video from our visit because it was fascinating to learn just how much goes into proper saddle fit. A good saddle isn’t just about comfort for the rider—it can make a difference in a horse’s comfort, movement, and overall well-being.

Now the search for Lady’s new saddle begins! 🐴🤎

Inspired by our horse, Lady, and taste-tested by her miniature donkey friends Oliver & Laurel, these wholesome treats are handcrafted right here at Sycamore Grove in small batches.
