September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month, and this year it is not an abstract cause for us. Since the beginning of the year, Will, the brother of our designer, has been battling leukemia, and he will be receiving a stem cell transplant soon. Because of this, from now through October 31 we are donating $250 plus $10 from every order to Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), and the proceeds from every leukemia sticker sold in the shop go directly to Will and his family. Whether it be an order online, a sticker from the shop on St. George Street, or a few dollars sent to on Venmo, every bit of it helps. On September 5, 1882, roughly ten thousand workers gave up a day’s pay to march through New York City in the first Labor Day parade. It would be another twelve years before Congress made it a federal holiday. However, the notion behind it has not changed: the strength of this country has always rested on the people who show up and do the work.
