Meet Dr. Jerry Matthews DVM
Jerry grew up on a small farm in Southwest Ohio, where he developed a passion for the livestock industry through showing cattle and hogs in 4-H. His love for livestock, particularly in the area of embryo transfer, led him to pursue a career in bovine reproduction. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he had the opportunity to shadow some of the leading embryo transfer veterinarians in the country and solidify his passion for the field.
After graduating from Purdue, Jerry joined Trans Ova Genetics, where he spent a year in Sioux Center, IA, honing his embryo transfer techniques. He then spent three years serving Illinois, Indiana, and parts of Wisconsin and Iowa, working with top producers and cattle in the region.
In 2019, Jerry and his wife, Dominique, moved to Charleston, SC, driven by family and career opportunities. In 2021, they adopted three children—Keymon, Shamiyah, and Dae Dae—who have been a tremendous blessing to their lives. They also welcomed their youngest son, Kayce, in 2023.
In the same year, Jerry founded Coastal Reproductive Services to meet the bovine reproduction needs of the Southeast. He has partnered with Chessie Creek Farm in Walterboro, SC, to offer a haul-in location for his services. Additionally, Jerry is a P.W.P. (Partnering with Practitioners) for Trans Ova Genetics, enabling him to provide IVF services. He maintains AETA certification, licensing, and USDA Accreditation throughout his career.
Driven to expand his young company, Jerry is committed to building lasting relationships and making a significant impact in the Southeast’s bovine reproduction industry.
