Named in honor of her mother, Mary Annunziata, Karen Cakebread launched Ziata Wines on Mother’s Day in 2009 with a Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc. The inaugural release of the 2008 Ziata Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, followed in early 2009 by the release of a Carneros single-vineyard Pinot Noir, created expressions of both the Bordeaux and Burgundy appellations. The resulting wines have a roundness an

d acidity levels that Karen enjoys. Notably, they are spectacular wines with food. This is important because Karen likes to enjoy good wine with her mother and role model, Mary Annunziata. Karen most recently release 50 cases of 2008 Oakville Cabernet Franc from a single mountain top vineyard.

Summertime is just around the corner and my favorite time to begin enjoying dinner fresh off the grill. You don't need to wait until the official first day of summer on June 21 to enjoy this delicious grilled salmon along with your favorite side dishes. It’s hard to choose just one wine for this recipe so I prefer to pop the cork on a bottle of chardonnay and pinot noir to enjoy side-by-side. Each works well so let me know your winning combination.
