Mountain hillsides impart such unmistakable signatures on their Cabernet Sauvignons. Join us this weekend at The Home Ranch to learn why, and how.

This Sunday at 10am, Heitz Estate Director and Master Sommelier Erik Elliott will lead a thoughtful exploration of Napa Valley's Mountain terroirs, through the lens of Heitz Cellar, Stony Hill, and Ink Grade. You'll compare the wines of the Mayacamas Range (Spring Mountain) and the Vaca Range (Howell Mountain), accompanied by winemakers as your guides.

Mark your calendars for this Sunday, June 14th.

We're honored to participate in the 2026 Taste of Oakville, a grand tasting of Napa Valley's most prestigious Sub-AVA, being held at the newly-remodeled Robert Mondavi Winery.

Our Winemaker Brittany Sherwood will be pouring alongside 48 other outstanding producers. It's one of the best tasting experiences in the entire valley, so check out this link to reserve your tickets:

Somewhere, Joe Heitz is smiling.

Back in 1976, his 1970 Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon placed 9th out of 10 red wines in the original Judgment of Paris Tasting.

30 years later, in 2006, the same wine captured 3rd place in a rematch conducted in Napa and London.

And on the 50th Anniversary of that proud day, May 24th, 2026, James Suckling reported that the 1970 Heitz Cellar Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon came in 1st place in his own blind tasting of the original 1976 competitors.

Slow and steady wins the race. It took 50 years, but Joe Heitz's classical style of winemaking—a tradition we continue today—triumphed in the end.

Members of Heitz Cellar get very special perks, chief among them access to our decades-deep library of mint condition wines.

Last week, to honor the anniversary of the 1976 Judgment of Paris, our Members were granted access to a 3-case parcel of the 1976 Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, still drinking beautifully after half a century.

50 Years ago today, the world of fine wine, and the destiny of the Napa Valley, changed forever.

We are immensely proud of the role that Joe Heitz, and his 1970 Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, played in the 1976 Judgment of Paris tasting.

Tonight we'll raise a glass to the pioneering families who came before us, who showed everyone that day that Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon could stand with the very best wines in the world.

About to burst forth into their 24th year, the vines in our prized Linda Falls Vineyard are surrounded by redwoods and madrones, not far from the picturesque Linda Falls Preserve and Waterfall.

The last vineyard we pick, its tiny berries transmit the forested beauty of Howell Mountain in a perfumed, elegant package, blooming from the glass with notes of musky black cherry and blackcurrant, and the unmistakable highland chaparral note we love about this AVA.

A lot has changed in 60 years, but the greatest, most immutable terroirs still announce themselves clear as a bell.

In the fall of 1966, Joe Heitz was likely tasting a new wine off the press when he was struck with an epiphany. This prime parcel in the heart of western Oakville—in between what are today known as Harlan Estate and To Kalon—deserved to be bottled on its own. Thus Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was born: America's first single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.

Luminary Napa Valley, a private lifestyle club, was founded by six historic wineries to celebrate the beauty and bounty of our home and the “luminaries” that came before us.

Our annual Luminary Harvest Weekend brings this idea to life with like-minded wine connoisseurs who gather for three days of feasting, tasting, and learning, culminating in our legendary La Paulée celebration.

A limited number of tickets are available. For more information, email [email protected] or see the link in our bio.

We extend a big thanks to our friends at Lexus () for helping us bring this celebration to life.
