We caught up with our Director of W**emaking Brittany Sherwood yesterday for her take on how vintage 2026 is coming together at Heitz Cellar:

"2026 is shaping up to be an incredible vintage! We got an early start this year, but with some cooler weather at the start of September, we were blessed with a brief respite that allowed our Cabernet Sauvignon to reach the balanced maturity we look for each year. The moderate heat the second week of September pushed flavors right where we needed them to be, and we are now 90% through harvest. Flavors, concentration, and energy are all present in our ongoing fermentations, and we are excited to see how these w**es develop as they age for the next 4-5 years in our cellar."

There is an incredible dining opportunity coming on October 10th: an exclusive event celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Judgment of Paris, featuring a seven-course dinner by Christopher Kostow, one of Napa Valley’s most acclaimed chefs, attended by w**emakers from each historic w**ery.

We're humbled and grateful for the mention of 2018 Heitz Trailside Vineyard in Robb Report's "7 Great Cabernet Sauvignons From Napa’s Storied Rutherford AVA," by Mike DeSimone and Jeff Jenssen.

The duo called it "fantastic w**e," offering "aromas of rolled to***co leaf, black plum, and black cherry that transition to flavors of dried Mediterranean herbs, blackberry, cassis, and a touch of both iron and Rutherford dust in the finish."

Harvest is here. Pickers snip the purple bunches in the cool dark before dawn. The Home Ranch is humming around the clock as the fruit comes in. September is when all of our patient work in our vineyards pays off, and we kick off the season with our Luminary Harvest Weekend.

There is no better time to visit. Hop in our our Lexus LX 600 to see Trailside Vineyard in style, in our Rutherford Legacy tour. Reservations for this 2-3 hour tour are understandably limited.

2021 is the kind of pitch-perfect vintage that doesn't come along very often. Our W**emaker Brittany Sherwood describes how it all fell into place.

Other Grand Award winners have welcomed our w**es on to their lists recently, notably Sierra Mar in Big Sur, the legendary Bern's in Tampa, and The Little Nell in Aspen. We are honored and grateful.
