The crews over at hard at Newton Vineyard have been hard at work on Spring Mountain and Mount Veeder, bringing in the 2026 harvest at their estate vineyards. It’s one of the most exciting times of the year, when months of decisions in the vineyard finally become fruit in the w**ery.
For w**e lovers, one of the most fascinating tastings in the years ahead won’t just be comparing different vineyards. It will be tasting the 2023 and 2026 Napa Valley vintages side by side.
Even though Newton didn’t get to make a 2023 vintage, the growing season was defined by patience. A cool spring and mild summer extended the growing season, allowing grapes to ripen gradually over one of Napa Valley’s latest harvests in recent decades. The resulting w**es have been widely praised by w**emakers for their balance, freshness, and depth.
The 2026 season has followed a very different path. An early start to the growing season, combined with multiple summer heat events, accelerated ripening across Napa Valley.
