Meet Matt, our 2026 harvest intern!

Matt’s path to wine country started somewhere you might not expect: corporate finance in Chicago. After realizing the corporate ladder wasn’t quite the climb he wanted to make, a local wine club, a few WSET courses, and one very memorable trip to Napa and Sonoma sparked a career change.

Fast forward to today: Matt is wrapping up the Winemaking Certificate Program at UC Davis and joining us for his second harvest after getting his start at Robert Craig Winery in 2024.

What drew him to Crocker & Starr? The people. After hearing about Pam and Charlie’s story, connecting with Julie and the team, and learning more about the wines we make from our historic Napa Valley estate, Matt knew there was something special here ✨

This harvest, he’s looking forward to learning from Julie and Pam, getting his hands dirty, and discovering a little of that Crocker & Starr magic for himself.

When he’s not in the cellar, you’ll find Matt following just about every sport imaginable, perfecting his fantasy teams, cooking something fun, or road-tripping through the West in search of his next national park.

One table. Four regions. A whole evening of flavor🍷

Join us under the Garden Arbor on Saturday, October 24th for a Celebration of India with Nalla, an immersive dinner bringing Indian cuisine and Crocker & Starr wines together in a way you may not have experienced before!

We’ll gather beneath the arbor for four regional Indian courses served on traditional golden thali plates, each thoughtfully paired with a Crocker & Starr wine. Nalla founder Shekar Sathyanarayana will guide us through the dishes, spices, regions and pairings along the way, while a live sitar and tabla set the soundtrack for the evening.

Expect marigolds overhead, glasses being passed around the table, plenty to discover, and a final course of traditional Indian sweets with freshly made chai.

And yes, there will be Cabernet Franc! After nearly 30 years of making it at Crocker & Starr, we can’t wait to show you just how beautifully it belongs alongside the flavors of India.

Meet Lillee, our newest harvest intern and the latest set of hands to join the Crocker & Starr crew for the 2026 season 🍇

With a degree in chemistry and a curiosity for what happens beyond the lab, Lillee found her way into wine after a harvest internship in Paso Robles. Turns out, getting her hands dirty, working with grapes, and seeing a day’s work transform from vineyard to cellar was exactly her kind of chemistry😉

This harvest, she’s especially excited to experience winemaking in a smaller-production environment, where she can follow the process from sampling grapes in the vineyard to running tests in the lab and everything in between!

Before landing in Napa, Lillee spent part of the spring interning at a vineyard in Turkey. When she’s not learning something new, you’ll likely find her at a live music show, with a very necessary cup of coffee, kayaking, watching soccer, birding, or taking the scenic route on a hike.

Harvest doesn’t begin with a pair of clippers. It starts here, walking the rows, tasting fruit, and checking clusters of our Estate Sauvignon Blanc as it edges closer to perfect ripeness.

A busy month for the team, Partner & President Cyrus Hazzard hit Asheville, North Carolina for Heritage Fire, while Partner & Founding Winemaker Pam Starr headed across the bay for Heritage Fire San Mateo. A special thank you to members Aman and Jessica for all their help!

From vineyard to fjord, what an adventure 🇳🇴🥂

We’ve shared incredible wines, unforgettable meals, and breathtaking views alongside our remarkable Crocker & Starr friends and club members. From sailing through Norway’s dramatic fjords to raising a glass in charming coastal villages, every moment was a reminder that the best experiences are the ones shared.

To everyone who joined Pam Starr and Cyrus Hazzard aboard this unforgettable adventure, thank you for making it so special. Here’s to new friendships, lasting memories, and many more journeys together.
