At Brown Estate, a unique combination of conditions gave Zinfandel more time on the vine during the 2026 growing season, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly.

Our commitment to Napa Valley extends well beyond w**e. It includes caring for the children and families who make this place a community.

Napa Valley Vintners is awarding $1.2 million to afterschool and summer programs serving 8,500 local students. Through homework help, STEM and arts activities, physical recreation and opportunities to develop important social and life skills, these programs give young people safe and supportive places to thrive.

Funding will support the work of Boys & Girls Clubs of Napa Valley, The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Helena and Calistoga, Aim High, Napa River Ecology Center, and Girls on the Run NorthBay.

Since 1981, funds raised through Auction Napa Valley have helped Napa Valley’s vintner community invest in the health and well-being of local children and families.

This investment is part of NVV’s Youth Wellness Initiative and our vintner community’s longstanding commitment to building a stronger Napa Valley for generations to come. It builds on the $1.8 million awarded earlier this month for on-campus student wellness programs.

What does harvest look like at 1,400 feet?

At Amizetta Vineyards, high above Lake Hennessey, the 2026 harvest arrived earlier than usual, but this mountain site is still among the later vineyards to be picked.

Brothers and vintners Perry and Ed Clark explain how cool mountain air and the lake's influence help keep temperatures steady, giving the fruit more time on the vine.

And farming at this elevation isn’t easy. The vineyards are so steep that much of the work is done by hand, with the vineyard crew even wearing soccer cleats to navigate the slopes.

It’s always a Merlot day at Duckhorn!

We caught up with Duckhorn Vineyards W**emaker Renée Ary as the team processed Merlot from Patzimaro Vineyard at the base of St. Helena.

Some of Duckhorn’s oldest vines grow here, and Renée says the vines and fruit are really in sync this year, producing beautiful fruit for the 2026 vintage.

Harvest is in full swing at Nickel & Nickel W**ery, where Director of W**emaking Joe Harden and the team are bringing in Cabernet Sauvignon from their C.C. Ranch vineyard in Rutherford.

We stopped by as freshly picked fruit arrived at the w**ery and made its way across the optical sorter. Joe’s early assessment of the 2026 crop: great color and extraction, lighter yields and really high quality.

With more Rutherford fruit still to come, they’re officially “rockin’ and rollin’.”

Smaller yields don’t necessarily mean lower quality. 🍇

We caught up with Schweiger Vineyards & W**ery W**emaker Andy Schweiger at the estate on Spring Mountain to learn about “shatter,” a vineyard phenomenon that has contributed to a smaller crop this year.

As Andy explains, while shatter can impact the quantity of fruit, it doesn’t negatively impact quality. In fact, smaller yields can sometimes lead to even better quality.
