September is Organic Month. And we think it's worth taking a moment to explain what that actually means. 🌱

Organic is a commitment we've maintained since 2006. And in 2022, we went even further, earning our Regenerative Organic Certification.

Organic farming means no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. It means soil has remained free of prohibited substances for at least three years before any harvest. It means no genetically modified seeds, plants or engineering. And for the animals that share this land with us, it means 100% organic feed, natural living conditions, and no routine antibiotics or growth hormones.

This April brought cool temperatures and heavy rainfall during grape bloom. But at Grgich Hills Estate, decades of regenerative organic farming have built resilience among our vineyards.

Mike Grgich and Austin Hills broke ground on July 4, 1977 for what would become Grgich Hills Estate. Today, as Austin, Violet and Ivo lead our team into the 2026 harvest, we're humbled by the knowledge that we are walking into our 50th harvest.

We are proud to share that the 2024 Pošip from Grgić Vina was featured in the July issue of Decanter magazine, highlighted by Andrew Jefford in his "In My Glass This Month" column.

"It’s hard to describe just how much the Jefford household recently enjoyed the 2024 Pošip from Grgić (working in Dalmatia, not California), grown on the island of Korčula, Croatia. It’s aromatically gorgeous, packed with powdery mimosa fragrance, while the palate is full of freshness yet vinous, sinewy and full, with a back flavour hovering creatively between mango and green olive. Perfect at 13.5% alcohol: any less, and you might miss out on that inner wealth, mellowness and expansiveness."
