🌴To prepare palm trees for a hurricane in Florida, you can:
-Prune wisely by removing dead or damaged fronds that are below the 9 or 3 o'clock position, but avoid removing more than two-thirds of the canopy.
-Remove large seeds and coconuts that can become dangerous projectiles during a storm.
-Fertilize your palm trees two to three times a year to ensure proper nutrition.
-Water palm trees a few days before a hurricane threat, but avoid overwatering.
-Mulch around the base of your plants to help retain moisture, prevent soil erosion, and insulate the roots.
-Stake young trees that might need support during heavy winds.

The Washingtonia robusta, commonly known as the Mexican fan palm, is a fast-growing and towering palm species native to northern Mexico but widely cultivated in warm climates, including Florida. This palm is relatively long-lived and can thrive for 80–100 years if properly cared for. As the palm grows, older fronds die and hang down, forming a "skirt" around the trunk. This skirt may need to be pruned for aesthetic and safety reasons, especially in windy areas.
