Tucked beneath our home lies a little slice of Italy — an intimate space transformed into a cozy hideaway, complete with a bourbon bar, speakeasy vibes, and shelves lined with hundreds of bottles of wine, many made right here at the "Chateau".

Thanks to everyone who came out and let me test out my bartending skills. It was a great night with some great friends.

Ok… even I’ll admit it—this turned out pretty cool.

What started as “let’s make the basement a little cozier” turned into a full-on WWII aviation-style lounge… and I’m still trying to find the right name for it.

The idea was born half from those old English gentlemen’s clubs you see in classic Sherlock Holmes movies, and half from the Trap Door Speakeasy we loved in Clare. This room has been a vision in my head for a long time. It took a few side roads (and a few “what was I thinking?” moments), but I feel like I finally landed pretty close to what I pictured.

What makes it special isn’t just the wood, the lighting, or the leather—it’s that my friends supported my “surely this will work” ideas.

On the window ledge are WWII and service tribute photos—family and friends who served, including my uncles Leeland Haas (WWII) and Eugene Pringle (Korean War), plus Al Selesky (WWII) and his very young bride Jan, who didn’t even blink when I called and asked if I could include them.

My original WWII Hallicrafters radio—and a huge shoutout to Ken Kruska for finding me a genuine microphone for it. That piece basically set the tone for everything that followed.

But the best part was my idea to include the wives in the vision with a nose art gallery wall. I can’t thank my lovely and very patient wife, Judi Beeler, and Kristal Cochran, Jan Bannhard, and Jayne Kruska enough for trusting me, humoring me, and letting me turn the idea into what I think is a standout display.

It may be a small room… but it carries a lot of meaning.

Here’s to the friends who feel like family, and the family we choose as friends. We’re grateful for you—always. 🥂❤️

I am happy to announce that the National Federation of Darters has restored Chateau Beeler to good standing and officially reissued our dartboard license.

As many of you know, this followed a full review of The Emu Incident—a regrettable evening sparked by a misinterpreted rule call, not about darts, but about the acceptable amount of vermouth in a proper martini. Sadly, that disagreement escalated, logic failed, and events spiraled into a shocking emu-versus-ostrich, full-on brawl.

Details are murky. Lessons were learned. Paperwork was filed. And today we still haven’t figured out who invited the emu or the ostrich.

Long story short… we have darts again.

Quieter New Years due to bad weather, but still had a great time.

We truly value your friendship and want to keep sharing good times with the right crowd, in the right setting. ❤️

Over time, it’s gotten tricky to keep track of who’s up for what — some friends are all in for bourbon and maybe a cigar, others prefer a good dinner party, and a few only come alive when there’s a body to be found at a murder mystery. 😄

To make sure everyone gets invited to the things they actually enjoy (and to help us manage space when spots are limited), we’ve created a few groups where you can raise your hand for what sounds fun:

👉 Chateau Beeler Bourbon & Cigar Club – for smoky nights and smooth pours.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1145876974299298/

🍷 Chateau Beeler Wine Club – for those who savor good food, good wine, and great company.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/882925184163303/

🕵️‍♀️ Chateau Beeler Mystery Society – for those who love a little intrigue (and maybe a body count). https://www.facebook.com/groups/25161541306836183/

🍴 Chateau Beeler Dinner Guest – for casual get-together, themed nights, and spontaneous feasts.

Join whichever fits your vibe — or all four if you’re a full-service adventurer! Or maybe you just want to watch the post, that is fine too!

Our “innocent” Kristal turned out to be the murderer, Annie died like a star, and the smoke machine kept everyone guessing (and occasionally lost).

Another unforgettable night for the Vampire Ledgers! 🦇
