This summer, we hosted two interns to learn about industry research. This week is their last week, so here is the second summary of the summer.
Meet Ashton!
"Hello, my name is Ashton Walker and I am from Standish, MI. I have recently graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Crop and Soil Sciences with a minor in Business. One thing I have learned this summer is to bring a backup change of clothes because weather is unpredictable. A fun experience I have was travelling to tomato fields and learning about sprayer drones. One of the biggest takeaways I have is to always take notes to reflect back on important details, and always be ready to learn. "

This summer we hosted two interns, and this week marks the end of the internship.
Meet Sophia! In her own words, she describes her experience and photos.
"This summer was full of new experiences that helped me grow my agronomic knowledge! Here are some highlights from my time at the North Central Research Station. I enjoyed being out in the field soil sampling, planting potatoes for the first time, riding along in the sprayer, and collecting data in the greenhouse. I also found cool bugs for a class collection, crossed paths with a tortoise while doing stand counts, learned that potatoes produce fruits, traveled to South Dakota for Ag PhD Day, and learned a lot from all of the agronomists."

Earlier this week, hosted Michigan Canola Day—and it was a great success! 🌱

More than 40 farmers and ag professionals joined us at North Central Research Station to learn about the opportunities of growing winter canola in Michigan and to tour the Rubisco Seeds variety trials.

A special thank you to our ADM Windsor processing team for sharing valuable insights on the canola processing side and helping connect the full value chain.
