Our thirteenth calf was born yesterday! This mom and her calf wanted to stay in their winter field after the birth. The herd was moved next door to green pastures as it is time to start our pasture rotations for the bison. Mom cow stayed in the field watching the field get worked up for planting. Most likely she loves the smell of the sweet soil. This fertile, rich, (lots of bison 💩) field will be planted into Sugar Beets, Oats, Forage Peas, Triticale and Rapeseed. Each of these plants add different nutrients to the bison diet. Then this pasture will be grazed in summer for extra forage when the grasses slow their growth during the heat of the summer! Happy Mother's Day!💐
