This was a nice day for a few of us but a great day for all that have ever had a connection to this small farm. We spoke to a lot of people that congratulated us on this achievement. I have been thinking that it has been about determination, continuous hard work and luck. I see much of this in many of my family members. That is the reason many, far and wide, have been so successful. Margaret and I were very humbled to be around these very proud members of the agricultural community of New York State. We are planning on a celebration picnic/party on the farm.

Farm update. Great news. Yesterday we received an exciting phone call from the NYS Agricultural Society informing us that the farm, Wm. Finch Farm, has been recognized as a centennial farm and is their 2025 award winner. The chairperson that called was thrilled to recognize our farm and family's agricultural efforts across many generations. She explained the selection process of reviewing the history and submitted story. This is something I have worked on for 5 years in an effort to earn this recognition for the farm. Although the farm has been in the Finch name for 171 years, the family connection extends well beyond 200 years. We will be honored at the Society's forum in Rochester and will have a celebration barbeque sometime late spring/early summer when we will be displaying the sign designating this award. There WILL be hay to make on that day!

See anyone on the wagon. No help today so I did it myself. Also found that dog tag in barn yard in front of the shop. Makes me wonder what old family dog that belonged to.
