We have completed removing leaves around the grape clusters. The fruit is exposed to the sun so it can fully ripen this fall. Think about conditions after the fall equinox: nights are longer than days, the sun is low in the sky, and there's dew on the leaves in the morning Leaf removal allows the fruit to gather what warmth there is, dry out and continue ripening until mid to late October. That's what sets the stage for great wines!

Our vineyard canopy management continues: the 1st hedging is complete. We hedge our vines to open the canopies and expose the fruit. This produces higher quality fruit and wine.

White Pine Winery had a special visitor today! Captain Hook attracted many visitors at our tasting room in downtown St. Joseph. The 38-year-old blue and gold macaw is from Bolivia and since connecting with his owner 18years ago, travels between St. Joseph in the summer and Florida in the winter.
