Anyone looking for LGDs? Our Juneau and Doc came from Groovy Goats and Sheep Farm and they have been the best dogs! I cannot recommend Holly Wilber Morag enough!

Life Update:

After much discussion and prayers, we have decided to “retire” from farming.

We have loved the past six years of building our farm (four years in Alaska and two years in Idaho) but both Greg and I have missed living near the ocean and have decided to move closer to the ocean and closer to our grown kids.

We are looking forward to more roadtrip adventures!

If you are interested in information on any of our animals, please message me, as they are looking for new farm homes.

Gender reveal!
On Saturday morning I went to the barn to let the animals out for the day. At the ewe’s stall I noticed something that usually wasn’t there. I actually said, “Wait a minute…” Juniper had a lamb next to her that looked like it had been there forever…completely cleaned off and no signs of a recent birth, except for the umbilical cord dangling underneath.

Back story…We brought two Finnsheep ewes to the farm at the beginning of March. I put both of them in with Marshmallow, my white Babydoll Sheep ram, all of April and May.

I was not expecting lambs until September/October so I was not looking for signs of labor.

Turns out the ram at her past farm got out once days before we brought Juniper and Ginger home. Now I am checking Ginger daily to see if she is showing any signs of labor.

We have a Finnsheep ram lamb and I’m ok with that! Welcome to the farm little guy, ak “Huckleberry,” aka “Huck.”

Greg finished the coop enough to move the layers in.

Later he will add a small front porch, the battens on the siding, and some trim pieces on the run.

I was hoping for a coop that looked like an old cabin and he nailed it!

I love its rustic charm. He milled all the lumber from an old log barn on our property that he tore down. The siding is the old roof purlins and he reused the old rusty corrugated metal roofing. Salvaged materials for the win!

Coop must haves…
Plenty of ventilation
Windows
Doors with thresholds
Rollaway Nesting Boxes
P**p Shelf
P**p Hatch
Separate Feed Room

Would you add anything to the list?

I absolutely love our new logo my friend made for our egg cartons. If you need a farm logo I highly recommend Lisa from Hansen Heritage Homestead. She really makes your vision come alive!

My spot-carrier Babydoll ewe, Pepper, is the sweetest girl. I’m so excited that she will be old enough to breed to my spot-carrier ram this fall.

We’d love some spotted lambs. Fingers crossed.
