Update – Pen 6 Pullet
This young pullet is showing some very encouraging development for our homozygous wheaten-based Jubilee line.
What stands out:
Strong mottling with crisp white tipping well distributed across the breast.
Early black banding starting to form behind the white tips — helping create better three-color balance.
Deep, rich mahogany ground color coming through nicely, with feather shafts beginning to blend cleanly into the feather web (no light shafting).
Solid Orpington type — broad front, good conformation, and correct frame.
These are the kinds of incremental improvements we look for as the mini-molts progress. The pattern is organizing, the mahogany is deepening, and the overall balance is heading in the right direction for the UK Standard.
This pullet is a good representative of where the line is going.

Pen 6 Cockerel Update – Building the Foundation
This boy is a great example of what we’re working toward with our homozygous wheaten-based Jubilee Orpingtons.
At first glance the dark areas on his neck and back might look like black, but they’re actually very dark mahogany. You can see the warm reddish-brown undertone, especially where the true black centre bands are forming. This is exactly the kind of rich, saturated ground color we want.
What stands out to me:
Very clean breast with nice white pearling and good black centers
Strong early black banding developing in the hackles and saddle
Clean white underfluff (a key marker of solid wheaten genetics)
Overall good Orpington type and frame
Each mini-molt is refining him — the pattern is organizing, the mahogany is deepening, and the mottling is tightening up. This is the kind of progress we like to see from this sire line.
We’re staying focused on homozygous wheaten to keep the birds predictable and clean while pushing for that bright, deep mahogany look the UK Standard rewards.
