Eastern Shore Brewing was established on August 28th, 2008. Opened by husband and wife Adrian and Lori Moritz. Eastern Shore Brewing is now the longest continually operated brewery on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. That's the story we tell, but if you ask around the bar you might hear another story. One that actually gives Eastern Shore Brewing roots in Vermont. Now, rumor has it, back in 1993, wh

en the winters were cold in Vermont and the wildebeests roamed the farmlands between Easton and Tilghman. It was up north when a young Adrian came to the realization that, yes, one might have to be 21 to buy beer, one did not have to be 21 to buy grain. They say the lighting bolt from that idea was bright enough to be see as far north as Quebec. Over time Adrian honed his craft with home brewing, 5 gallons, 10 gallons and so on upward. The bug had bit him and as over the course of 10 years it had become a way of life. Eventually pulling in his soon to be wife Lori to brew along side him. (Insert Love Scene) Adrian and Lori got married, as young couples in love often do and as the song goes, it wasn't to long before Joycelyn came along in the baby carriage. Well as any young family knows, grandparents love spending time with their grandchildren. I am gonna skip a few pages here.... This brings us to 2006. Adrian's parents had retired and moved from New Jersey and set off to St. Michaels in hopes of joining the riches surrounding the wildebeest market. As Pit Bulls were starting to get a bad rap and Golden Doodles had yet to be bred. The people of the Eastern Shore were scrambling for the next new family pet. Settling on a local golf course proved to be a wise decision, given its long fairways, various hazards and the rather dense forest around it, made it a cinch to corral wildebeest and other assorted wild life. The before mentioned, young Moritz family coming down for holidays and sailing in the summer, automatically fell in love with the area and wanted to give this quaint, small town living to their daughter and who could blame them. This is the part of the story where we get back to beer. With a distrust of wildebeests the Moritz's had only one option for an income stream, "We'll brew beer!" With a storefront open right next to the winery it seemed to be a no brainer. So just like that the leap of faith had been made and personal possessions lessened as they sold everything off and moved from Rochester to St.
