Today kicks off National Groundwater Awareness Week 2025! Groundwater is a vital natural resource for all Ohioans.
Approximately 42% of Ohioans rely on groundwater to meet daily water needs, including ~1.5 million Ohioans who rely on private water well systems – that drips out to over 850 million gallons of groundwater a day! 💧
The Ohio Geological Survey's Groundwater Resources Group is responsible for collecting, researching, interpreting and disseminating hydrologic and groundwater quantity information for the Buckeye State!
An important component of the groundwater program is to characterize Ohio’s groundwater resources through monitoring and evaluating long-term trends in groundwater-level fluctuations throughout the state’s aquifer systems.
