SPPS follows the Minnesota Department of Health’s air quality guidance and will cancel outdoor activities when the Air Quality Index reaches the red range (151 and greater). Due to current conditions, the SPPS Food Truck will not operate today or tomorrow (July 16-July 17). This decision was made to protect the health and safety of our students, families, and staff. Free, nutritious meals remain available at our indoor meal sites. Information about SPPS meal locations and other community sites can be found on the Free Meals for Kids app. SPPS News Saint Paul Parks & Recreation

Celebrate Food Waste Prevention Week (April 7-13) by learning about SPPS’s innovative strategies to prevent food and packaging waste in our schools.

Thanks to grant funding from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, SPPS started new initiatives this year to:
- Use reusable containers for produce deliveries, eliminating up to 17 tons of cardboard packaging waste annually
- Redistribute extra food to local organizations like Catholic Charities and Second Harvest Heartland, decreasing food insecurity in our community

Learn more about these strategies and how families can get involved in preventing food waste at spps.org/happeningnow. .sna
