I have excess of 2 kinds of basils plants for sale.

They are ready for use.

$6 per plant and bigger than grocery store sized.

1. 5 leaf lettuce basil for sale. They will have their roots intact, and they are pictures 1 and 2 with my hands. They have the familiar taste of the Genovese basil just milder; also, the leaves are bigger and can be used as a roll up for your favorite vegetables and/or meats combinations, and all the same ways Genovese basil is used.

2. 5 Genovese basil for sale.
I live in South Saint Pete. This is the classic and most familiar basil. Great for Capreses, salads, pestos, sandwiches.

They are pretty big. 🤩

Opinion wanted: do we have these appropriately priced? If not, let us know what you think is good?

We exclusively use untreated seeds, always prioritizing heirloom and organic varieties, using aeroponic methods (Almost all our seeds are from Baker Creek Seeds, and YES we practice organic pest management methods as well 😍.)

Pickup would be in South St. Pete near Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, Saturday 8/22 tomorrow.

And, isn’t that little ladybug on one of our pepper plants just so adorable? It’s a great predator against plant pests like aphids and more.

We have a lil harvest of Shimson cucumbers, a China Jade cucumber, and Inizia zucchinis. There are a few things we’re learning all about this summer. It is all OE or FE (operator error/farmer error), BUT it’s all schooling. We’re learning and rolling with the punches, having the time of our lives growing food and growing in knowledge in beautiful Pinellas County FL.

Rain!!! Finally!!!! Some rain!!!

We will eventually be able to accept SNAP as payment for our produce, and in the fall, we’re hoping to become Fresh Access Bucks, FAB, Partners.

With FAB, SNAP families, $40 worth of produce would cost them $20. (Example of matching; we won't know the exact amount until we're accepted as partners)

Here at ,Songbird, we exclusively use untreated seeds, always prioritizing heirloom and organic varieties (Almost all our seeds are from Baker Creek Seeds, and we practice organic pest management methods.

From beyond the garden path came a grey wizard known only as Gandalf.

Keeper of ancient wisdom. Wielder of the Secret Art of Bug Removal. Guardian of the Tomatoes.

Though small in stature, let none mistake him for ordinary. For when flies and foe gather in great number and pests stir in the shadows, Gandalf appears upon his leafy tower and declares, “YOU SHALLOT PASS!!”

A busy day full of lil blessings, love notes, and surprises.

This past week has been full of adventures here at Songbird Sowers!

A storm rolled through and knocked over a few of our towers, sending some of our plants on an unexpected journey. We thought a few were gone for good, but after a couple of days, we found two little runaways! They look a bit rough around the edges, but we’re giving them lots of love and think they’ll make a comeback. 💚

We’ve also welcomed some leaf nymphs to the farm… and introduced them to a bucket of soap and water. 😜

On a happier note, we have a new lizard friend keeping watch over the farm, and several of our plants are beginning to fruit! 🍅🥒🌶️ Seeing those first fruits always feels like a little reward for all the hard work. He totally seemed up for the job

Farming is never boring. there are storms, surprises, tiny challenges, and little victories every week. We’re grateful for every lesson, every harvest, and every critter (well… almost every critter 😉).

Happiest little birthday to you, Lil Sprout!

This is a Long White of Palermo zucchini. Today you’re tiny, but one day you’ll grow into a beautiful plant, nourishing families, gathering people around tables, and perhaps even helping to nurture little babies and curious toddlers with garden grown goodness.

Keep growing, little one. The world needs what you’ll become.
