Ruth Family Farm

Ruth Family Farm Welcome to the Ruth Family Farm! Home to our Chickens, our Pup, and Us! Hello and welcome to our family farm page.

I have always been an animal lover, and for my 6th birthday my parents got me a pygmy goat, Bandit. It was love at first site, and began my love and passion of raising goats. Bandit was my constant companion all the way through my senior year of high school. After Bandit passed away I knew I would someday own goats again, something I made sure to tell my husband was a part of being married to me.

So in 2018, we built our dream home, the fall of 2019 we added a small backyard chicken coop and added some hens to our homestead, and then come summer of 2020 we added the first group of Miniature Silky Fainting Goats to our farm! From there we have added a few more newbies, both feathered and furred. We love this life we have created for ourselves here at Ruth Family Farm, and we are so excited to continue on this fun filled journey of raising farm animals, and sharing all their cuteness and love with you!

We have the camera up and running down at the stand. Today someone thought they could get away with paying $2 for 3 dozen eggs. We will let this person right their wrong, but if it continues we will be reporting them. We ask that you please respect our farm stand and pay the requested amount for a dozen eggs. This money goes right back into feeding, caring, and housing our hens so we can continue to share their eggs with all of you. Please be mindful and respectful. We understand if you can’t afford to pay what we are asking and we are fine with you not buying from us, but please do not steal! Thank you!

We have have a breeding pair of mini silky fainting goats available. Perfect opportunity to start up your own herd if you have been looking to or a great addition to an established herd. Both are very even tempered and social. Buck is proven and polled and the doe is proven and disbudded. Please PM if interested. Thank you.

My husband found this in our cash box in our egg stand. While outside doing chores we saw a dark colored (navy blue with Illinois plates) jeep pull into the drive. Person went into the egg stand. While in the stand a UPS truck was leaving the house and must have spooked them. They left did not purchase any eggs. My husband went down to check on things and that’s when he found this chop stick in the cash box, all eggs are accounted for but were disheveled a bit. This saddens me to know people are so blatant and willing to steal from a small family’s egg stand. Come on, be better!

Please don’t steal from our farm stand! We are so excited to be stocking the egg stand yet again! It’s our first signs of spring.

Unfortunately twice in the past week someone has stolen from us. It appears to be someone taking 2 dozen eggs at a time. We understand times can be rough, and we are empathetic in regards to that. If you are unable to pay please do not steal. This farm stand is a part of our family’s hobby farm. Our children get great joy out of it. Not only does it teach them responsibility but also important lessons in saving and hard work. We accept cash or Venmo. If you don’t have either it’s okay to return with the cash later that day. Please be respectful of our homesteading. We love sharing our eggs with you and we would like to continue doing so. Thank you.

The girls are back at it! We are starting to have more eggs, yay! This is our first sign that spring is not far away. We are stocking the red cooler and putting it in the stand when able. So long as the temps stay above 27° and the hens continue to produce well, we hope to have the cooler stocked as much as possible!
