In celebration of the area’s dynamic craft beer and cider culture, the Salem Brewery Association and Travel Salem have officially launched the Salem Ale & Cider Trail, showcasing nine local breweries and three cideries in and around Oregon’s capital city. Visitors are encouraged to navigate the trail using the special printed passport, which includes information about each participating brewery or

cidery, a place to jot down tasting notes and special offers from select advertisers. Once the passport is full, guests can bring them to the Travel Salem Visitors Center (located at 388 State Street, Suite 100, Salem, Oregon 97301) and receive a commemorative glass etched with the Salem Ale and Cider Trail logo. Guests can also receive stamps in their passport from select advertisers. Once that portion of the passport is complete, they will receive a key chain bottle opener sporting the Ale Trail logo. The featured breweries and cideries on the Trail are:

6. Salem Ale Works

What a year it's been! But sadly, my time with the Salem Ale Trail has come to an end. The passport program will still be running, but the marketing for it is on pause for now.

I truly appreciate the time I've spent working on this project! I've been able to travel around the Salem area, getting to know the breweries and cideries much more in-depth. The people behind these companies are working hard to provide quality product and experiences, and it was my absolute pleasure to build them up for the community to see.

I'll still be writing for PDXBeerGirl, as well as doing marketing for other various businesses. I might still see you around Salem! Keep visiting the places you love. Cheers! 🍻

Happy Thursday! Santiam Brewing Co. is located in the industrial area off McGilchrist in Southeast Salem. The company started as a home-brew club in one of the founders' homes in 2012 and has grown into the brewery you see today. They have a dedicated cask bar, as well as a generous barrel-aging program.
