Cristom Vineyards

Cristom Vineyards Stewards of the land celebrating 25 years of world-class Pinot Noir.
(456)

Sustainably farmed, produced, and bottled at our estate vineyards in Oregon's Eola-Amity Hills. Cristom Vineyards began a quarter of a century ago as a collaboration between three men: an engineer, a biochemist, and a farmer, who each possessed a deep-rooted respect for the land, the natural winemaking process, and Pinot Noir. 25 years later, 2nd-generation winegrower and owner Tom Gerrie leads wi

nemaker Steve Doerner and vineyard manager Mark Feltz in growing and producing our elegant, dynamic wines. Our winemaking philosophy begins with respect for our land and estate vines, as well as the natural process of fermentation. We're proud to be Certified Sustainable by Low Input Viticulture & Enology (LIVE), both in our winery which we run responsibly, and in our fields that are thoughtfully and meticulously farmed with a focus on quality. With minimal intervention during the winemaking process, Tom, Steve and Mark strive to craft wines that are an honest recording of both the vineyard and the vintage, producing the ultimate expressions of the stellar fruit we’re fortunate enough to work with. Recognized globally as a leading producer in our beloved Willamette Valley, our wines continue to be a unique blend of tradition, modernity and finesse.”

Another great vintage to remember, and wonderful people to remember it with.

We officially wrapped up the 2022 harvest last night with a celebratory dinner for this year’s incredible crew. Thank you for hosting such a warm, delicious experience, and to .antonio.recio for carving some truly mind-blowing jamón ibérico.

It’s the heart of autumn, all the fruit is off the vines, and therefore the sheep are back in the vineyard rows. It’s a beautiful time to be here.

Hay day!

A good portion of our estate is devoted to growing mixed grains and clover and wild flowers. Each year, we cut cut and bail fields to be used in the fall as ground cover, erosion control and composting. Today, our winery crew is bringing the hay down from Paul Gerrie and Eileen vineyards to stack next to the winery for dry storage and use in our compost piles at the end of harvest.

Drop drop drop.

We were fortunate enough to have exceptionally high fruit set this year, which when combined with a relatively cool, late vintage necessitates some fruit thinning to ensure all our fruit achieves ripeness.

Veraison 2022

With a striking development of color, veraison marks a time of transition to the ripening phase of the season. Berries begin to soften, acids steadily decrease, and sugar concentration shoots up. And, of course, that alluring Pinot noir color. Harvest is coming.
