I just decided to turn the heifers out on this paddock this morning even though the grass is still immature and short. I will not come back to this paddock again until July/August time when it is hot and dry and the other paddocks need a rest. That will give this grass time to grow and put down some strong roots. 🤞

Our first South Poll cross by a 50% Mashona / 50%Red Angus bull was born last night. This first calf heifer was AI’D with a delivery date of April 13th and gave birth two weeks early.

This is the heifers I keep back eating breakfast after a new move on season long stock pile. They know around here if they don’t earn a spot on the roster they will soon be sleeping in someone else’s pasture.

These are the 2024 & 2025 heifers from the cow herd that I just sold. I have these here at home, 24 head, to keep me occupied and keep me active. I have big plans in grazing 365 days instead of feeding hay and I believe this set of heifers will let me know if it’s possible or just hopeful dreaming. If I succeed it will be a great step in cutting the cost of raising cattle. 🤞
