Oregon Fruit

Oregon Fruit Real Fruit from Real Fruit People. Family Owned in Salem Oregon since 1935. Oregon Fruit Products is a family owned and operated company.

We take pride in the high quality and consistent products we provide to the marketplace, along with service and integrity not commonly found in today’s businesses. The beginnings of the business started back in the 1920s when company founder Max Gehlar offered his dried fruits to the market place. During the depression year of 1935 the β€œOregon” brand was established and the company shifted its foc

us from dried fruits to canned specialty fruits. Oregon Fruit Products is located in Salem, Oregon which is nestled in the fertile Willamette Valley of Northwestern Oregon. This area is blessed with relatively mild winters and springs during which we receive most of our 45 inches of annual rainfall. These winters and springs, followed by warm sunny summer days, give our fruit the flavor, size and natural sweetness unparalleled in the world. Our growers are located as close as a 10 minute drive from our Salem plant. This area is one of the best geographical areas in the world for our preferred hand harvested fruits and berries. The vast area we draw from also greatly decreases the risk of major crop loss due to weather or plant disease. We are proud of our number one position nationally in canned specialty fruits, in addition to our recognized quality aseptic and frozen products produced by our industrial department. All of our products are certified Kosher, allergen free, gluten free, preservative free, non GMO and vegetarian. Our facility is inspected regularly by third party and regulatory inspectors.

"Clean label" doesn't have an official definition, but it's driving real decisions in foodservice kitchens. According to Datassential, nearly 70% of operators said guests are actively asking for it, and 90% wish someone would just define it clearly.

We dug into what the data says operators actually mean by "clean label": short ingredient lists, no artificial colors or preservatives, things you can pronounce β€” and what it's costing them to get there. (Spoiler: more than they'd like.)

Premixed cocktails and RTDs grew 17.1% by volume in 2025. That one segment pulled the entire US spirits category into growth for the year, and passed vodka to become the largest spirits category by volume.

But what's driving it?

We went through the numbers and pulled out what it all means if you are thinking about your next beverage.

Batching your beverages before service isn't cutting corners. It's how good operators protect their margins, their speed, and their consistency β€” all at once.

"I love batching beverages or bases and simply topping each serving with something carbonated and a quick garnish. It creates something special without losing consistency or speed-of-service." β€” Emra Nation, Oregon Fruit National Account Manager

We wrote the guide: dosing ratios, shelf life tips, what to batch vs. finish to order. Worth a read if you're running a beverage program.

Hard seltzers are down 7.4%. Spirits-based RTDs are up 20%. That's not a blip. That's the market telling you something.

Consumers have tried a lot of cans at this point. They know what tastes like a real cocktail and what tastes like sparkling juice that wanted to be one. The brands holding shelf space right now are the ones that invested in real ingredients, real spirits, and formulas that actually replicate the drinking experience they're promising.

We wrote a piece on what the winning RTD formulas have in common and what's getting brands delisted. Real fruit is part of the answer throughout. Worth a read if you're formulating or thinking about it.

This is what a year of work looks like in about 60 seconds.

From the first bloom check in spring to the trees getting shaken last week, to this footage of cherries rolling through our production line in Salem β€” the Brutke Farm red tart cherry harvest is done, and it's going into aseptic puree.
Fifth generation Brutke Farm is half an hour from our facility. One of the only red tart cherry growers left in Oregon still committed to the crop. We've been following this story all year, and the full writeup is on the blog now at https://oregonfruit.com/blogs/news/oregon-red-tart-cherry-harvest-brutke-farm

What makes a great brewery collab? We went to two breweries that just pulled one off.

Double Mountain (Hood River) and Holy Mountain (Seattle) teamed up for the first time on a grapefruit radler, cofermented with our aseptic grapefruit puree. We sat down with both head brewers to hear how it came about, why a radler neither had made before, and the one thing they agree makes a collaboration work: the right partner.

Cherry soda has a flavor problem. Most of what people think "cherry" tastes like is actually benzaldehyde, a compound that reads more like almond than fruit.

So what separates the truly great cherry sodas from the rest? We looked at award winners and standout labels on the market right now, and found the same pattern every time: real cherry fruit doing the flavor work, not flavoring alone.

Our latest blog post breaks down why ingredient quality matters more in cherry than almost any other category, and how aseptic cherry puree gives beverage manufacturers a shelf-stable, clean-label way to keep that fruit quality consistent from batch to batch.
