Veraison is the turning point in a grape’s development, and we’ve been watching it unfold across the vineyard over the last few weeks.
It may be a little tricky to pronounce, veh-ray-ZOHN, but it’s one of the most exciting signs that all the work of the growing season is beginning to take shape. Berries shift from bright green to golden for white grapes and, for our red varieties, eventually deep purple. Sugars build, berries grow, acidity begins to drop, and the flavors we’ll find at harvest start to develop.

From the onset of veraison, harvest is typically about 30–70 days away. This year, we’re anticipating our first picks around the beginning of September.

It’s a beautiful time to visit the vineyard. You can see the change in the vines, feel a shift in the season, and sense the excitement (and stress) starting to build around here.

Harvest is coming, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

Traditional pairings, be damned
Our 2023 Reserve Pinot Noir is proof that with the right w**e, almost anything can work. Layers of cherry cola, rose petal, blackberry bramble, savory olive, vanilla, and a touch of umami meet bright acidity and a cool, polished finish.
There’s so much happening in this w**e, it might be harder to find a food that doesn’t pair well.

Featured in our Fall W**e Club allocation and on our tasting flight all month long. Give it a try and let us know your favorite, or strangest food and w**e pairing, and we’ll give it a try!

Sometimes, you happen to have just the right place for something a little unexpected.
Auxerrois is a variety more commonly found in Alsace, France. We were first introduced to it by our friends David and Jeanne Beck, and later received cuttings from David Adelsheim to plant here at Bjornson.

Because Auxerrois ripens earlier than many of the varieties we grow, a cool, north-facing slope in our vineyard turned out to be just the right home for it.

The result is our 2025 Viola Auxerrois, tasting of fruit blossoms, Asian pears, and lemon curd. Silky in texture with bright, building acidity, finishing with a cool freshness.

Come taste the new vintage in the tasting room this month, and W**e Club members can look forward to taking it home with their Fall release.

Are we crazy for planting Cabernet Franc in the Willamette Valley?
After bottling our first vintage, tasting the 2025 in barrel, and watching the 2026 vintage develop, we feel confident we made the right choice.

Our first Cab Franc is bold yet inviting, with violet flowers, rosemary, red fruit, and hints of dark chocolate.

Come try it in the tasting room this month. Club members, you’ll find a bottle waiting for you in your Fall W**e Club allocation.

Two vineyards, one bottle = depth, complexity, and balance.
We can’t stop reaching for our 2024 Willamette Valley Chardonnay. Bright green apple meets layers of lemon, nectarine, and thyme, with plenty of texture without leaning too oaky or buttery.

It’s fresh, layered, and just might be the Chardonnay for people who think Chardonnay belongs anywhere but in their glass.

Come taste it on our flight all month long. Club members, consider this your chance to decide whether your Fall allocation has enough Chardonnay in it.

Structured yet approachable, our 2024 Willamette Valley Gamay Noir opens with aromas of raspberry, strawberry, and cola.
It’s the bottle you’ll reach for most evenings: serve at cellar temp, chilled, around the dinner table, or open simply because it’s Tuesday.

You’ll find a bottle (or two) in this fall’s W**e Club allocation. We can’t think of a reason you’d want to swap it out... but if you must, we’ll allow it.

Our 2023 Art Pinot Noir is a barrel selection named in honor of Mark’s grandfather William Arthur (Art), who tenaciously worked his North Dakota farm through the drought of the 1930’s.

Like its namesake, this w**e is rooted in character. It reflects the richness of our vineyard, offering depth today while rewarding those with patience to cellar it for years to come.

This month, we invite you to learn Art’s story through a glass. Taste the 2023 Art Pinot Noir on our current tasting flight, and take a bottle home as part of your Fall W**e Club allocation.
