Homestead Happenings: Another busy day of processing 20 gallons of milk! Yes, we finally cut back to once a day milking! Finished off some muscadine goodies and checked in on our sauerkraut!! There are a few things that we try to do here "By the signs" or using the Farmers Almanac. Sauerkraut and killing are two of those things! We get the best results when we do it that way!

Homestead Happenings: Yesterday I made the trip to Osage farmers market in GA for cabbage. Did I need 50lbs of cabbage and a box of roma tomatoes? No, did I get them? Yes. And then I stopped by Lughnasa Farm, LLC for a sneak peak pick of muscadines, bc we have something delicious planned for those beauties for the Oconee Farm Crawl!! Did I manage to make a 20lb box of tomatoes into sauce? 50lbs of cabbage into sauerkraut? And a basket full of muscadines into a gallon and a half of juice? YES, Yes I did. Am I exhausted... yes, yes I am. Also, if you feed your chickens a bunch of muscadine hulls, they p**p turquoise... you are welcome.

Wanna support Ag in Oconee this weekend? Here's what I'd do! Get up early and head to the Foothills Heritage Market, it's a yard sale day, so get your shopping done! Then I'd head on over to Keaton Farms! They are having some special vendors out for the day so you can pick up some beef and grab a cup of coffee from The Brew Lab! Then, I'd head home and get online and get my tickets for the Oconee Farm Crawl! I hear they are almost sold out! Or better yet, sign up to volunteer for 2 hours and then get free tickets to enjoy the rest of the day! And while you are doing some online shopping, grab tickets for the Fall 2026 Farm to Table dinner from Callywood Farms for Oct 3rd! It's a great weekend to support Ag in Oconee!

We are so pumped about the Sept 19th Oconee Farm Crawl! We have some amazing vendors coming to set up and you are going to want to come early! Taylor Made Painted Gourds was a vendor with us last year and her gourds are gorgeous!! They make the perfect addition to your yard! I love my honey bear! And she makes custom orders too! Come see us and get one of these adorable gourds!

We are so excited to be a stop on the Fall Oconee Farm Crawl for Sept 19th. And we've worked hard to put together the most amazing stop for you all!! If you haven't met our friends at Happy Camp Farms you are in for a treat!! Brittney makes the most amazing sourdough bread and goodies. Her campfire smores cookies are amazing!! And she is working on a very special cookie to accompany our Cow Patty Bingo! ;) AND we have a surprise on how you can guarantee that you get some of her delicious goodies!

Homestead Confession: I have often said that while I do not have a green thumb, I am basically a fertility goddess, with our animals popping out babies all the time. Yesterday we picked up 4 ewes at 6pm, dropped them in the pasture at 6:30pm and at 8pm one of them gave birth to a ram lamb...I think that's a new record for me. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£Don, of course, was thrilled that 4 sheep became 5 sheep within hours of touching our pasture. Isn't he adorable??

Wanna support Ag in Oconee this weekend? Here's what I would do- Wake up early Saturday to head to the Foothills Heritage Market to get corn from 1909 Farms and Pine Hollow Farms, because you gotta get it early! While there grab a cup of coffee from Alexander's Coffee House & Cafe and a piece of breakfast pizza from The Fermentery!! Then I'd wander down the market to harass Don who will be there with our delicious chicken and lamb. I'd buy all the goodies and then get a pizza to go! Then I'd head back to a few of my favorite farm stands from the Oconee Farm Stand Scavenger Hunt from last weekend! Several of them already have some fall flavors happening!! Then on Sunday I'd head over to Keaton Farms for the summer clearance sale!! And if you missed getting our chicken on Saturday, you could swing by Flip Flop Farm LLC and pick up one! Lots of great ways to support Ag in Oconee this weekend!
