1850. 1948. 2026.

Big Spring Mill has been part of Virginia’s story since 1850. Layman Distributing has been bringing the goods since 1948. Now, our two stories come together.

We’re proud to announce Layman Distributing as the exclusive distributor of Big Spring Mill products throughout our service area as this historic brand begins an exciting new chapter.

Two legacies. One new partnership.

Meet our first-ever Mars Stars!

We’re proud to recognize Dan Moore, Ryan Booth, Tammy Jernigan, and Ali Stanley from our Merchandising Team as Layman’s inaugural Mars Stars winners, selected by program sponsor Mars Wrigley back in July.

Every day, our Merchandising Team works with our customers’ stores to make a difference — from setting planograms and tagging shelves to recommending products, identifying display opportunities, and finding ways to make stores more visually appealing and profitable.

They don’t just complete a set - They look for ways to make the store better.
That kind of expertise, initiative, and customer focus is exactly what makes our team special.

Congratulations, Dan, Ryan, Tammy, and Ali! You’ve set the bar high!

Just like in baseball, success doesn't happen without putting a strong team out in the field everyday.

Yesterday, we brought our employees together at Salem Memorial Ballpark/Carilion Clinic Field for an afternoon of food, baseball, and fellowship. Company President Scott Thomasson shared 2026 business updates and also named our inaugural Employee of The Year (more on that to come!).

Events like this are a great reminder that while we work hard to serve our customers, we also value the people who make that work possible every day.

Thank you to the entire Layman team for your hard work, dedication, and commitment. We’re proud to celebrate this team—and excited for what’s ahead. And thank you to the Salem RidgeYaks for hosting us.

July isn't the only thing bringing the heat this month - we've got some smoking deals in this month’s What’s New at Layman video.

We’re highlighting new items, featured promotions, foodservice opportunities, and great ways for our customers to keep shelves stocked and sales moving through the summer.
We’re also proud to spotlight our partnership with Community Snacks, where every bag sold through Layman helps support The Life Ring Foundation and its mission to end kids’ cancer. It’s a powerful reminder that the products we sell can do more than drive business — they can help make a real difference.

❤️ Snack with Purpose. Change a Life. ❤️

What if the chips on your shelf could help fight childhood cancer?

Now they can.

Layman Distributing is proud to partner with Community Snacks and the Life Ring Foundation to support a mission that truly matters. For every bag of Community Snacks chips purchased through Layman, 5% of the proceeds are donated to the Life Ring Foundation to help fund its mission to end childhood cancer.

It’s simple:
🥔 Great-tasting chips.
💛 A meaningful cause.
🎗️ Every bag makes a difference.

Whether you’re stocking a convenience store, restaurant, school, vending machine, or workplace, choosing Community Snacks means you’re helping bring hope to children and families fighting childhood cancer.

The Miss Virginia contestants are getting a little extra fuel from Layman!

As a woman-owned company powered by strong women leaders, we were proud to come together and pack snack bags for this year’s Miss Virginia Pageant — filled with Community Snacks, nuts, energy shots, and more.

Through our partnership with Community Snacks and the Life Ring Foundation, these bags also help shine a light on an important mission: ending childhood cancer.

Great products. Community pride. A whole lot of purpose.

From our team to Miss Virginia, Layman is proud to be bringing the goods! ✨
