It took 3 years for Dulce to finally give me a girl and when she did, she did it with twin girls! So did ya'll really think I would be able to choose just ONE or is keeping both just totally a predictable move? (I think I can answer that question for myself)

Yes, please help us welcome Gabbana and Dior to the Syman Says Farms forever herd. They have a very important legacy to continue here as their lineage goes all the way back to Cassie; our very first mom to deliver babies on our farm back over 11 years ago and whom Cassie's Castle is named after. These girls are Cassie's first Great, Great-granddaughters and solidify her legacy here for generations to come.

As we navigate how to best support Pi Pi to give him as many good days as we can, the harsh reality is, there aren't going to be very many of them left.

One of the saddest parts is hearing Olivia, our 11 year old try to reason and negotiate with death. "Mom, if I just hand feed him every day will that make him live?" "I'll just sleep in the barn with Pi so nothing bad happens." "What will make this go away?"

I am throwing everything at Pi and hoping just one thing will stick and give us (well, Liv) more time with him. Her heart will not be broken on my watch without us giving Pi our absolute best fight. So Pi is getting fluids twice a day, steroids twice a day, his Fig Newtons laced with more drugs twice a day, Alfalfa drenches several times a day and is in his own private stall in House of Pi with access to his outside paddock during the day (with Mom, Charlotte) Charlotte does not spend the night as she needs to stay active within her own herd.

We hand pick him long, lush greens from the field and he takes a few big, enthusiastic mouthfuls before "allowing" Charlotte to steal the rest. Liv picks him dandelions and he gobbles those down. But his body seems to be getting tired. Let's pray this new medication routine gives him some comfort and light back 🤞🏻 🙏

This is not the news we expected or wanted to hear today. Pi Pi has a mass in his chest and fluid around his lungs. This is, sadly the same kind of mass Greta passed from just a few months ago. While I don't have all the answers right now, here's what I do know. Pi Pi is on 2 new medications. Dexamethasone which is a steroid to hopefully slow the growth of the mass or possibly even shrink it a smidge. As well as reduce inflammation around his heart and lungs.
Lasix which I understand to be a diuretic and can help take the fluid off his lungs making it easier for him to breathe.
Both medications give him a chance at more good days but neither are a cure.
We have a lot to think about when it comes to what Pi Pi's end of life care will look like. And I just don't know right now.
What I do know is Pi Pi will feel loved and spoiled as he's been his whole life. And when he tells us he's no longer having good days, we will help him with that too... Whenever that day comes.

You know... Just because you start chewing cud 20 minutes before we leave for the vet doesn't get you out of going. While I'm very proud of you, please get in the truck!

It's not every day Pi Pi gets to have breakfast with his momma, Charlotte. They are both out together for different reasons.
Charlotte is out grazing because... Well, she's old. I mean, it's part of her retirement and nutritional program ;-)
Pi Pi, on the other hand... We aren't sure what's going on with him. He started acting dull yesterday. He just doesn't have his usual pep in his step nor sparkle in his eyes. And while he walks out to the paddock for grain, he doesn't eat with his friends. Upon investigation, he has no fever, his eyelids look nice and pink and he's peeing and pooping normally. So we treated him with some "goat Tylenol" and b vitamins yesterday thinking the drastic changes in our weather lately could have upset his belly or is just making him feel crummy. But there hasn't been an improvement today so far so it's time for an official check-in with the doc.
His check up is scheduled for later this afternoon and I'll keep ya'll posted. For now, we would greatly appreciate some well wishes sent Pi Pi's way 💜

Warning... When visiting Thunder, THIS is how close he prefers to be to you. It's important to protect your toes and your pockets. He WILL make sure there's nothing in those pockets for him.
