It’s Giving Tuesday! 😊 Did you know families who are seeking Century or Sesquicentennial Farm or Ranch status go through a formal application process that requires a lengthy application, family narrative, & photos! It’s quite an accomplishment and we are looking forward to what 2024 holds for our program!

We are 1257 Century & 57 Sesquicentennial farms and ranches strong! Our program relies heavily on individual donor support! We have many small donors that give to us every year faithfully! Would you like to become one of them?!

It’s not too late to honor Anne Marie ♥️🙌🏻

Over 100 people attended the celebration of life for Anne Marie last Wednesday. It meant a lot to her Illinois family to see how much love and appreciation for Anne Marie there is among her Oregon Farm Bureau family.

We want to thank Northwest Farm Credit Services for the large donation of $25,000 to get the scholarship started. We also want to send out a very special thank you to all county FBs and individuals who have contributed or pledged to the OFB Memorial Scholarship endowment honoring Anne Marie. Your contributions make a difference and have greatly honored Anne Marie's memory.

We have received over 80 pledges or contributions. Gifts and pledges have come from coast to coast in the US and as far away as Italy. As of last Wednesday, the endowment has raised over $80,000. That money will be invested, and its proceeds will be used to help college students starting with the 2023-24 academic year.

To honor her this coming school year, the scholarship committee funded a $1,000 scholarship in Anne Marie's name, and by some providence, it was awarded to an ag communications major.

Umatilla-Morrow County Farm Bureau has graciously started their own local $1000 scholarship award honoring Anne Marie, and other counties have decided to pledge varying amounts to be donated over the course of multiple years so that the scholarship fund is continually growing and giving back.

There is no ceiling on contributions to the endowment and no limit on how you choose to donate, so it's not too late if you or your county have not contributed yet.

Scholarships are part of the Oregon Agricultural Education Foundation, a 501c3 charitable organization. That means individual or company contributions are tax-deductible.

Thanks to all who have helped honor the memory of this remarkable member of the Farm Bureau family. She will forever be with us in our hearts.

WIth great sadness we share of the passing of Anne Marie Moss. She was greatly loved and will be missed. See below opportunities to support charities that meant alot to her. I worked with the scholarship program for nearly 12 years and I have to say she was so dedicated to helping students in Agriculture. Please consider giving to an endowed scholarship in her name—she’d be so so honored.

Anne Marie Moss discussed charitable causes with her family last week. She asked for support for METAvivor, a 501c3 non-profit that focuses 100% on metastatic breast cancer research. You can donate at:

https://donate.metavivor.org/give/318818/ #!/donation/checkout

Anne Marie was a model lifelong learner. She also asked for support of Oregon Agricultural Education Foundation (OAEF) scholarships. Oregon Farm Bureau is launching an effort to fund an endowed scholarship in her name. We need to raise at least $25,000 to ensure that this scholarship can be given in perpetuity. Angi Bailey’s and Dave Dillon’s families have committed $1,000 each to launch this effort. Send contributions to OAEF (note Anne Marie Moss scholarship), 1320 Capitol Street NE, Suite 200, Salem, Oregon 97301. Contact OAEF Director Sherri Noxel if you need more information, [email protected]. OAEF is a 501c3 charitable foundation.

Thank you for honoring Anne Marie’s memory and adding to her legacy in the ag community and beyond by contributing to these causes that were important to her.

Thanks to the amazing Lynn Howlett for use of this photo.

We are saddened to hear of Dale’s passing a true advocate for all things Ag.
He served on our committee for countless years and was given Emeritus status in 2016 upon his retirement. We adored all that he was as a human ♥️ he will be missed.

OFB was extremely saddened to learn the news that Dale Buck, a dairy farmer and member of Tillamook County Farm Bureau, has passed away.

Dale’s dedicated leadership in Farm Bureau and stalwart advocacy for Oregon agriculture with legislators and state agencies earned him and his wife Jackie a place in the prestigious OFB Hall of Fame, the highest honor our organization can give.

Anyone who knew Dale will remember him as a warm, thoughtful, hardworking, and generous individual who gave his all for causes that were meaningful to him.

“Dale is survived by his kids and countless people like us who were blessed by his presence and friendship and tireless contributions to his community and to the organizations he believed in,” said Dave Dillon, OFB EVP.

Our hearts go out to Dale’s family and friends during this sorrowful time.

Agriculture has been a mainstay of Oregon's economy and culture for 180 years. In 1958, as part of the state's 1959 centennial celebration, the Oregon Historical Society and the Oregon Department of Agriculture established the Oregon Century Farm & Ranch Program to honor family farms that had stood the test of time for 100 years or more. More than 1,200 family farms and ranches have been honored since 1958. Century Farm and Ranch coordinator Andrea Kuenzi and committee member Larry Landis will discuss the history of the program and how it has evolved into a key documentation program of Oregon's agricultural heritage. Join us tomorrow for Zooming Back to History where we will learn all about this important part of mid-Willamette Valley History!

2021, 2020 Century Farms & Ranches to be honored at State Fair

Oregon Century Farm & Ranch Program Awards Century Status to 12 Farms & Ranches in 2021 & holds ceremony at Oregon State Fair for both 2020 and 2021 families

(Salem, OR) – Twelve farms and ranches from six different counties will be honored this year as official Oregon Century Farms or Ranches, bringing the total number of Oregon Century Farms and Ranches to 1,247. One Sesquicentennial Century Farm recipient from 2020 — a family who has reached the 150-year mark — brings the total of Sesquicentennial honorees to 47. The 2020 families will be honored with the 2021 families at this year’s awards ceremony at the Oregon State fair on Saturday August 28, 2021.

“Every Oregon farm and ranch has a unique history and special family story. The Oregon Century Farm & Ranch program encourages agriculture families to share, with a broader audience, these stories,” said Program Coordinator Andréa Kuenzi. “By promoting family stories, our rich cultural heritage is passed down to future generations while educating Oregonians about the social and economic impact of Oregon agriculture.”
