Just a little history, Earth Day began in 1970. However most ranching families in Chaffee County have been land and water conservationists -true stewards of the land- since the late 1800’s.

A few ways past, present, and future cattle ranches, through grazing, help care for the beautiful spaces we enjoy:
1) forest fire prevention,
2) promotion of healthy grassland environments by removing nonnative plant competition,
3) aeration, erosion control, and fertilizer,
4) buffer against development and subsequent loss of wildlife habitat

And my favorite...
5) up cycling land too steep, rocky, and inaccessible into high quality protein and beef byproducts

To day was an amazing day great people and plenty of photo opportunities. This isn't just photography, this is a way of life. Ranching isn't easy, but with good friends and hard work it does pay off.

Today is the end of National Ag Week. It feels appropriate to share some of the things that make us most grateful to be a part of the Ag Industry:
1) caring for the welfare of our livestock - through blizzards in calving seasons and all
2) producing quality, local beef
3) helping to conserve grasslands and forests
4) sharing good memories and work with friends and family
5) continuing six generations of Everett’s ranching in this valley
6) summer cattle drives - plain and simple.
