With the harvest season concluded and all fall crops successfully planted,it's an opportune moment to reflect on past experiences. As a fourth-generation farmer, my 41 years of life have been marked by encounters with floods and extreme drought, circumstances that seasoned agriculturalists attribute to character-building. Indeed, their assertion holds truth. Recently, the American farmer has faced significant challenges due to lower commodity prices and escalating input costs. Taking a respite from the rigorous cycle of harvest and planting allows us to appreciate the progress made in our lives and farming practices over time. I would like to share photographs spanning the years 1916-1958, featuring my great-grandfather, grandfather, father, and his twin brother John. This reflection coincides fittingly with our nation's 250th independence day celebration.
