NOW HIRING - Ranch Hand
This is an all inclusive ranch job, not solely a riding job. Even though all of our cattle work—gathering, pairing, trailing, doctoring —is done on horses, we have a lot of work to that isn’t. We feed cattle in a feedlot, haul water to cattle on our permits, pump wells, build and repair fences, maintain water lines from springs to troughs, will be branding calves, spreading manure and laying off pastures and flood irrigation.
We brand a semi load of calves nearly every couple days mid April-June and use a hydraulic calf table to make it easier on the calves and because it takes less manpower. We've noticed that a lot of cowboys looking for jobs say they don’t want to work on a ranch with calf tables. If you can find us a good crew who will show up consistently every day to brand for 2-3 months, we’ll rope them instead!
We work at a very fast pace and things change daily. We're looking for someone who can easily adapt to change and who is a quick thinker. Our operation is spread out so constant direct supervision from the owners is limited. We're looking for someone who is a self starter, that can work independently, who follows directions and who is capable of getting the job asked of him done. We’re looking for someone who isn't afraid of long hours and hard work. Must be honest and trustworthy, hardworking, clean, positive attitude and able to work well with others. Ability to communicate well with owners and other employees clearly and with respect is essential. No drugs or alcohol. Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive and back up a truck with a gooseneck trailer.
Must have prior experience. For your sake and ours, please be honest about your abilities. If you’re incapable of doing this job, don’t apply. This isn’t Yellowstone--we need real ranch hands, not actors and not dreamers!!! Comment/DM with your email address if you’re interested in more info and an application.
