Beautiful afternoon in the bee yard but this sting was a GOOD one…through my gloves and sleeve! What set the ladies off? Well I was worried about a mouse deciding to spend winter in the hive so I poked around the front entrance to see if there was signs of a nest. They defended in full force! I put a mouse guard on and after a pause to walk away and appreciate the pain, they settled down and were fine.
This time of year wasps, yellow jackets and other bees try rob hives so the bees are naturally more defensive. Cheers to our little bee-yatches!
