It’s funny how variable each hive is- the big ones are packed and got more space today. The little ones are either steady or struggling. One is a bonus swarm that moved into empty equipment and is struggling with hive beetles. And Monty kept me company (stayed in the truck during hive checks) and was rewarded with a nice walk.

Getting ready to pull honey from these two big hives. The top boxes are WAY over our heads and about 75lb each. We had to remove them to place escape boards to shoo the bees out and then put them all back. We’ll go back tomorrow and bring the boxes in for harvesting. 💪💪🥵🥵

This hot spell weekend keeps beekeepers on their toes for swarms. We split our over-wintered hives at the end of April in an effort to prevent swarms. Today we moved our winter queen to a bigger house!
