“Let me introduce you to the Gède Challenge!

In Haitian Vodou, the Gède are the spirits of death, but don’t let that fool you. They’re also spirits of life, sexuality, laughter, and mischief. They’re provocative, unapologetic, and known for their love of rum and hot peppers.

And since Halloween is when we celebrate all things spooky, I figured, why not invite the Gède to the party?

But here’s the thing: the Gède don’t play nice, and neither does this sauce.

We’ve created a special Scotch bonnet hot sauce that brings the kind of heat that’ll make you question every decision that led you to this moment.

You can take on our Burger From Hell or our Gède’s Inferno Spicy Chicken.

The challenge is simple: finish your meal without reaching for relief.

So, the question is: Can you handle the heat, or will you be begging the Gède for mercy?

This is the vision for Makaya’s new look. 👀🔥

The truck you all know is still the blue truck right now — but this is the direction I’m working toward for the new wrap.

Brighter. Warmer. More vibrant. More Afro-Caribbean. And still proudly rooted in Haiti. 🇭🇹

I’ve been wanting to give the truck a new look for a while, and I’m currently working on raising the money to make it happen.

So when you come out and eat at Makaya, especially during this birthday push, you’re doing more than buying dinner. You’re helping me get a little closer to turning this design into the real thing.

I can’t wait for the day I get to pull up looking like THIS. 😮‍💨🔥

Until then, we keep cooking, we keep showing up, and we keep building.

🎂 TOMORROW IS MY BIRTHDAY — AND I’M SPENDING IT IN THE FOOD TRUCK! 🚚🔥

September 13 is my birthday, and instead of taking the day off, I’ll be doing what I do — cooking and serving you.

I had one birthday goal for myself this year: raise enough through Makaya to give the food truck a brand-new wrap. A fresh look that represents where Makaya is going and everything we’re building.

Sales have been a little tough lately, so I’m not quite there yet.

But I’m not asking for donations.

I’m asking you to come hungry. ❤️

If you’ve ever wanted to try Makaya, tomorrow is the day. If you’ve eaten with us before and loved it, come back and bring somebody new.
