What Juneteenth Means to Me
Juneteenth is a reminder that freedom is not just something we inherit—it’s something we honor through what we build.
As the descendant of people who once owned nothing, I never take for granted the opportunities I’ve been given. To me, the American Dream isn’t about overnight success. It’s about investing in the things that matter most: your children, your health, your community, and your purpose.
For years, I poured my time into raising my family and building Sheer Ambrosia, often sacrificing comfort, vacations, and financial security in the short term. Today, I’m watching those investments begin to bear fruit. My children are thriving. My business continues to grow. And I’m proud to be a shareholder and customer of Redemption Bank, the first Black-owned bank in the Mountain West.
Juneteenth reminds me that freedom creates opportunity, but opportunity requires work, patience, sacrifice, and faith.
I am grateful for those who came before me, and I feel a responsibility to make the most of the opportunities their sacrifices made possible.
I’m still building.
