Gonna be really transparent today.

In the Fall of last year, we got really excited about the chance to open up something amazing for our hometown. We didn’t want to rush into anything, and given the issues of the past, we knew it would be an uphill battle to earn back the trust of our community and build up the level of business we would need. We had an ultimate goal in mind, but knew it wouldn’t happen overnight. We made stages of goals and a business plan for each one.

And then we were told our vision didn’t match theirs. Talk about a punch in the gut. It was so disheartening to know we had a plan for something that I know without a doubt would’ve been successful, but were told “thanks for your effort but sorry we have to take a different direction “.

But God. As bad as it was to give up a dream (for now 😉), we’ve gained so much more. We’ve been able to spend valuable time with our families. We’ve been able to take trips with them. We’ve been able to attend school functions for our kids and grandkids. We’ve been given a flexibility that wouldn’t have been possible running a restaurant.

I found out last week that my boyfriend’s dad is nearing the end of his battle with cancer. We never expected this news to come so quickly, but we’ve been blessed with 4 years longer than anyone thought we’d have. We’ve been able to spend so much time with him recently, and I know that wouldn’t be the case if I was helping to operate a restaurant.

It’s funny sometimes how our plans don’t work out, and then down the road we’re able to look back and understand why. We don’t see it at the time, but God does. He’s walked our path for us, and knows every turn we’re gonna take and every pothole we’re gonna hit. Nothing comes to us that hasn’t passed through His hands. All we have to do is trust Him. 🙏🏻

A friend of mine shared this. My house growing up didn’t have a wooden screen door, but many of my older relatives homes did. If I close my eyes, I can just hear the sound of one closing and it feels like home.

One of the decor ideas I’d wanted to do was have a screen door separating the upstairs and downstairs areas. I’d already been on the hunt to find one, and it just had to make “the sound”. 😂 An old-fashioned screen door would’ve been the perfect touch to Welcome Home!

Stopped in for a bite to eat. Never been here, but would definitely come back! Very clean, family friendly. Ham, pineapple and jalapeño pizza, and baked spaghetti! So good! And the side salad with shredded lettuce, tomato and green peppers was an unexpected delight! Our server gave us just the right amount of attention, and our drinks were never empty! If you’re ever coming down 501 through Aynor, be sure to give them a try!

Keeping the Welcome Home Café page up and going. We may not be able to serve y’all yet, but I want to shout out to places that can!

This morning, I had the chance to swing by Prices Pick Me Up! I had the “Ninety Six”-a red velvet latte topped with whipped cream. It was soooo yummy, and just the pick-me-up I needed! If you get the chance to stop by, you won’t regret it!

GregCyn Price, we’d love to see the truck in Saluda sometime! 😉

Well, there’s no easy way to say this, but unfortunately TBA will not be opening up. 😔Something will be opening up in that space, we’re just not sure what that will be or when. The owners of the building are making some cosmetic and functional changes to the physical space, and are taking the necessary steps to have it back up and operating as soon as they can. We wish them & the next occupants the best of luck!

We’ve worked hard over the last few months, we’ve made lots of plans, and we’ve had some amazing people offer their help to get us going. It was truly humbling to have so many people willing to assist us in making our dream a reality. My heart is overflowing with gratitude for the support from our community. Huge THANKS are in order for everyone that has supported us and helped spread the word about our plan to open up. We were blown away to have over 200 people following along, and we hadn’t even opened! You really can’t beat the love of a small town. 🥹

While this was not what we expected, and we are disappointed our dream didn’t pan out, we haven’t given up. We know everything works out just like it’s supposed to—“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

Maybe one day the stars (and finances 😂) will align, and we can open up the space we’ve dreamed of…“Welcome Home Café”

“The road to success is always under construction.” Yes it surely is!! 🤣

Well, we are just a teensy bit behind on announcing a name. 🥺 We are still finalizing that, and fingers crossed 🤞🏻 that can be done next week!!! 😁

It’s been a minute since we posted any updates, but there hasn’t been much to update. We’ve been getting lots of questions, some that are easily answered and some that are 🤷🏻‍♀️. There seems to be 3 that are the most popular, so here we go…

1) What’s the name gonna be?
-Well, like I mentioned above, we are in the final stages of that decision. It has to be agreed on by all parties involved & we want it to be special!

2) What kind of food are y’all going to have?
-We don’t want to give away too much info on that just yet!! We have some items that we know y’all love, but we also want to offer things you won’t find close by! We will have fresh foods, not frozen! (May can make an exception for some Sweet Potato Fries 😉) There will be something for everyone to enjoy, even the kiddos!!

3) When are y’all going to open?
-That is one answer I don’t have. 🥺 We’re having some renovations done to the kitchen, and also working on some cosmetic stuff in the dining room. A few other “business” things are being taken care of, and we’re also finalizing menu & business hours. We have meetings set up with food service vendors, and I’ve been in talks with computer system companies as well. There’s a lot of moving parts to making this dream a reality, and we don’t want to rush it! (Actually I’d love to hurry it along if I had a magic wand—BibbidyBobbidyBoo style!!🪄😂) But seriously, we want things to be nearly perfect when the doors open, and good things take time!

In the meantime, please keep sharing our page—we’ve already reached nearly 200 people!! Word of mouth is the best advertisement! 💗 We love y’all, and appreciate your support and patience!! 🥰We cannot wait to welcome you through our doors!! 🍽️🍛🥪🥗🥙🌯🍔

Back from vacation and ready to the things!! ALLLL the things!!! 🤣

Was chatting with my partner earlier and we were planning out our week. Several important items on our to-do list rely on having a business name, so that’s top of the list for us!! 💗💗💗

Be on the lookout for that exciting news THIS WEEK!!! Share our page with your friends so no one misses out on the goodness that’s on the way!!

When I was growing up, we spent all our vacations at Myrtle Beach. I can remember when we’d run into people my parents knew, they’d always comment how we can’t go anywhere without seeing somebody we know. 🤣 Well, what did we do today?!?! We ran into some fellow Saluda folks! 💗

I can definitely appreciate the hard work that goes into these cars—it’s amazing what can be accomplished when you’ve got passion for what you do. That passion is evident in every one of the cars we saw today, just like this beauty done by Saluda’s Chad Martin/Chad’s Custom Dreams!

And while vacations are nice, there really is no place like home! While this week at the Rod Run has gone by fast & vacations are never long enough, I’m excited to get back home!! Ready to get “TBA” a real name 😂, and get us another step closer to bringing something great to our hometown & surrounding areas!!

I know I’ve said it several times already, but I sincerely mean it when I say thanks for following along! 🥹 We’re glad you’re here!! 💗

What is “TBA”?? 😂

I’m sure that has confused a lot of people, and the rumor mill is in full swing!! So, TBA is NOT our name! We are still working that out, and will announce as soon as we can, hence “To Be Announced”!

There will be a new restaurant opening up on Main Street in Saluda, SC!! For the locals, you’ll know it as the old Rosie’s building. Our address is 121 N. Main Street. We have a front entrance on Main Street, and a back entrance on N. Jefferson Street—parking is much better back there! 😉 While we are working on the name, we are also planning our hours & menu, making some cosmetic changes, and setting up food trucks & vendors. We’ve definitely got our “work” cut out for us!!

They say if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. Well to say we love what we do would be an understatement. 🥰 We are passionate about what we do and what we want to bring to our community. 🍽️🥪🌯 With that said, there are a lot of moving parts to make this dream a reality, and we appreciate your patience as we prepare an amazing place for you! While we’d all love to have doors open next week, we don’t want to rush this, and want to make sure we are set up for success from Day 1. Saluda deserves nothing less than the best, and that’s what we are striving for. 💗💗💗

Thank you for liking & following our page, and we’d love for you to invite your friends and family to follow along also! We are so excited for all the good things that are coming!!
