Yesterday, I worked on paperwork. The online program would not let me save. I was halfway through and it would not let me go any further. I called it a day. This morning, I'm up at 5:30 getting ingredients together. I dropped a cup of flour all over the floor. My first thought was can I ignore this? Well, no. So, I grab the broom and clean it up. Then, I stopped. I took a few minutes to clear my head, talk to Jesus and calm myself down.

I walked out on the deck and saw the beginning of the day. The sun was starting to light the day. The birds were chirping. I could hear the cars starting to arrive at the school across the street. I took a deep breath of the cool air. Together, God and I walked back to the kitchen and began to cook. This is in the oven for 90 minutes. Apfelkuchen (Apple cake.) 2 layers of thinly sliced, spiced apples and 3 layers of batter. I'll share the picture of the finished cake in the comments when it's done.😊

We will be sampling this at Coffee Fest this Saturday. It looks like we're going to be on the N Chadbourne side of the park by Twisted Root. Come see me! I've missed you all.

Cooking with Love ❤️

When I was a little girl, some of my sweetest memories were made in the kitchen with Maw Maw. On cold winter afternoons, we'd come in from the freezing weather to hot, sweet milk tea and Maw Maw's homemade bread, buttered and toasted golden in a skillet. We called it Granny toast.

I didn't know it then, but she was teaching me so much more than how to cook. She was teaching me how to love people through the things I made for them.

I've learned that when I rush, trying to beat the clock and get everything done, something is missing. But when I stop, take a breath, and remember whose child I am, everything changes.

I am a child of God, blessed with hands to work, a heart to love, and gifts to share. When I quiet my mind and center myself in His love, I can let Him work through me. The kitchen becomes more than a place to prepare food. It becomes a place to serve, to bless, and to love.

Maybe that's what Maw Maw knew all along.

Cooking isn't just about following a recipe. It's about the love we put into ordinary things and the people we nourish along the way.

This morning, I'm reminded of those simple blessings as I look at a plate of hot, buttered biscuits and homemade jam beside my cup of coffee. Some things are worth slowing down for.

Love cannot be rushed. Neither can the best things we make with it.

Because the secret ingredient was never just in the recipe. It was in the love. ❤️

🍂🍞 LOOK WHAT CAME OUT OF MY KITCHEN YESTERDAY! ❤️

Yesterday was a pumpkin yeast bread kind of day at the Mann & Frau kitchen!

I made two versions of our pumpkin yeast bread. The sunflower loaf is a little showstopper, while the rustic loaf is simple, hearty, and full of that wonderful pumpkin-and-spice flavor.

I have to admit something.

𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝟭𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. 😂

Yep. Ten years.

Ten years ago, this little adventure started as Fredericksburg Frau.
It was my little food business, born out of a love for cooking, baking, preserving old recipes, and sharing good food.

Then, five years ago, we moved to San Angelo.

Somewhere along the way, David officially came on board. Because apparently he decided he liked what I was doing and thought he should get in on the fun. 😂

Fredericksburg Frau became Mann & Frau Country Store.

And we built a life here, too. We bought our own home, made a kitchen of our own, and kept doing what we love—cooking, baking, preserving, creating, and sharing good food with great people.

And here we are.

Ten years of recipes.

Ten years of markets.

Ten years of jams and jellies, salsa, breads, German specialties, holiday baking, and whatever else we've decided to make in our kitchen.

Ten years of customers who became friends.

Ten years of people bringing our food to their family tables.

Ten years of you coming back for the things you love.

And we're not going to let our 10th anniversary slip by unnoticed.
Next year, we're going to celebrate it properly.

We're already working on something special that brings together the recipes, traditions, memories, and food that have made Mann & Frau what it is.

I'm not telling you everything just yet. 😉

But I will tell you this:

Holiday Tasting! ❤️🎄

It’s time to start thinking about the holidays, and we’re opening up our kitchen for a special morning of tasting, visiting, and holiday ordering!

Come join us Saturday, October 17, from 9 AM to noon at our home at 356 E. 47th St. in San Angelo.

We’ll have LOTS to taste—our homemade cakes, breads, cookies, fudge, jams and jellies, salsas, German specialties, holiday goodies, and more.

☕️ We’ll also have fresh coffee and bottled water, so sit a spell, taste some goodies, and visit with us.

We’ll have our finished products on display and order sheets available for Thanksgiving and December holiday orders. Our Christmas Stollen and hand-stretched Apple Strudel will also be available to taste and order for December.

Tastings are FREE!

Hi everyone! It's been a while. Life has finally slowed down enough for me to be back in the kitchen. I am looking at having a tasting event at the my home, under the canopy on a cool Saturday, October morning. Maybe the 13th or 20th.

You know that I like people to try my food before you buy. This year, I figured we could have it at my house. Most everything will be for tasting and placing orders. Hello everyone! I was planning on setting up for April 4th to bring you guys some salsa and jams. I am sorry to say that I won't be able to. I got a really, nasty viral bronchitis in February and I am still dealing with it. I finally ended up at Urgent Care last week and got a double dose of steroids. I just don't have the energy to cook right now.

Hopefully, I will be feeling better soon and do want to plan to setup sometime soon. I might have to do it from my home. I will keep everyone updated. Love to you all, Kathy
