Dried wax cappings. This machine spins all of the excess honey off of the wax and then is spun into a 55 gallon drum where it will be for a couple days before we render it down to use for our hand salves, lip balms and religious candles.

We keep the extraction room at about 105 degrees when we are extracting honey. This helps the honey to flow easily and faster. But, boy oh boy it makes for a long hot day!

Eli- it has been quite a month! He had District FFA Convention where he won Sr. Prepared Public Speaking, his proficiency advanced, his Star Chapter Farmer application advanced too, and he was elected Concho District President! Moving on to Area convention, he placed 4th with his speech, 2 in livestock as a team, and his proficiency advanced and he advanced with the Star Chapter in placement! Then on to his Chapter FFA banquet where he was recognized for the CDE’s, LDE’s and proficiency’s he has done. And at the end of the night he was elected as Vice Presidemr!!!

The next two years are going to fly by. Don’t miss a thing!

Quinn- 6 grade is wrapping up. It has been a great year and the first year he was not the alternate for UIL oral reading. He read the Strawberry Roan Poem that Marty Robins made into a song. He read it with flair and twang while wearing a cowboy hat for extra swagger.

His Orange tractor that he rebuilt made one last appearance at the Wall School Ag Mech Show. He celebrated it being a real tractor by taking it on a camping trip last night. No pictures. But, when your 12 any wheels means freedom!

He has done well in school and is growing up so quickly! He is almost as tall as me, but, I am still holing on, for now.

Hands in Hives today was great. Folks were able to walk through 4 different hives that are all at different stages of growth. We are going to try to do this style of workshop more often. Stay tuned for the next one.

So you have bees and need to know what’s next, or what you need to be looking for this spring. Come over. Let’s go through a hive and learn what we need to be doing next!

Please let me know if you are coming so we can be properly prepared. Thanks!
