Good morning, San Angelo!

Going from our little food trailer to a full brick-and-mortar restaurant was a BIG step for The Tasty Kraut. Bigger kitchen, more tables, more staff, and about 10 times more headaches! 😂

But one thing **has NOT changed: THE FOOD!** 🇩🇪

Same authentic German recipes. Same passion. Same deliciousness. Just with a roof over our heads and a lot more dishes to wash! 🤣

We're still learning, improving, and occasionally fighting with our German perfectionism. But we're proud of how far we've come, and we couldn't have done it without y'all! ❤️

🇩🇪🥨 **SAN ANGELO, WE HAVE A SERIOUS GERMAN PROBLEM!** 😂

For too long, we've been committing something dangerously close to a crime in Germany: **Serving Bratwurst and Fleischkäse on bolillos instead of proper German Brot/Brötchen!** 😱

Not because we wanted to. We simply didn't have the kitchen space or staff to bake our own bread.

But now we do! 💪🇩🇪

**Real German Brot/Brötchen. Freshly baked. Crispy crust. The kind of bread that fights back when you bite into it!** 😂🥖

And now we're facing an even bigger problem...

**We have to ask Americans what they prefer!** 😳

We serve it with our house blended mustard 😉

In Bavaria, Leberkäse translates as liver cheese, and the real thing has no liver and no cheese.

It is a smooth loaf of finely ground pork and beef, baked in a pan until it has a dark, crusty top. It comes out of the oven in a big block, and the butcher cuts you a thick, warm slice, puts it in a crusty roll and adds a squeeze of sweet Bavarian mustard. It is breakfast, lunch, or the snack on the way home.

Nobody agrees where the name came from. One theory is that the Käse part has nothing to do with cheese and simply describes a solid block.

German food rules even make it official: outside Bavaria, anything sold as Leberkäse is expected to contain some liver. Only Bavarian Leberkäse is allowed to have none.

Here’s one of many reviews on google, that make us happy and show us, that we’re doing something right 😉.

„We are so excited to try the new German spot in town! We had such a great experience at The Tasty Kraut and can’t wait to come back!

We tried the Rahmschnitzel and the döner, and both were delicious! My boyfriend is STILL raving about how crispy and amazing the French fries were. 😂 We finished our meal with the apple strudel, which was SO good and the perfect way to end dinner!
They also have real German b**r, and we loved getting to try a b**r flight with a few Oktoberfest b**rs. It was such a fun way to sample different options!

Our server, Ashley, was incredibly sweet and took great care of us throughout the meal. We also loved seeing the owners out and about, chatting with their tables and connecting with their customers. One of the owners even brought my boyfriend a sample of another b**r to try when he wasn’t the biggest fan of one on the flight. That little gesture really stood out to us! It says a lot when you see an owner who genuinely cares about their establishment and wants to make sure their guests have a great experience.

Between the delicious food, great b**r selection, wonderful service, and welcoming atmosphere, The Tasty Kraut is definitely a place we’ll be returning to. We can’t wait to come back and try more things on the menu! Prost! 🍻❤️“
