Crisp, clean, and golden, with a soft bready malt character, gentle honey-like sweetness, and a smooth, refreshing finish.

Festbier is brewed to be easy-drinking and balanced—malty enough to be flavorful, but light enough to enjoy without the heavy roastedness.

Festbier is the modern Oktoberfest style, while Märzen is the older, richer tradition. Historically, Märzen was brewed in March and lagered through the summer, resulting in a deeper amber color and toastier malt profile. Over time, many Oktoberfest celebrations shifted toward the lighter, brighter Festbier served today.

And while visitors often call it Oktoberfest, locals in Munich call the festival die Wiesn, (the meadows) after the Theresienwiese ("Therese's Meadow") grounds where it takes place.

The space was named in honor of Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.

On October 12, 1810, she married Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria (who later became King Ludwig I).

The citizens of Munich were invited to celebrate the royal wedding on the fields in front of the city gates.

A massive horse race was held to close the festivities, and the fields were officially named Theresienwiese in the bride's honor.

Because this celebration was so popular, it was repeated the following year, marking the birth of Oktoberfest.
