Barbecue boot camp is officially over.

Five days of intense heat, late nights, early mornings, nonstop serving, and putting in the work. We went through 38 briskets and 11 pork butts, serving up damn good food fast.

We had one hell of a team. People kept asking if we actually ran a restaurant and honestly, that’s the ultimate goal.

We ran this like a restaurant, organized, fast-paced. Everyone knew their role, we worked as a team, adapted when things got busy, and made it happen.

It was all about the system, and the way the team operated. We could take what we built here over the 4 years and do it anywhere. Would love to run this concept in San Antonio!

Today started off slow and I’m not going to lie, those slow days can really get in your head when you’re a small business owner. You start wondering what more you could do to bring people in, how you can create more awareness about where you’re at, and how you can reach the people who may not even know you’re here yet.

Then lunchtime came around and y’all showed up for the Takedown Bowl!

Some days are better than others. Some days are nonstop, and some days have us wondering where everybody went. That’s just the reality of running a small business.

But one thing we never want to forget is how thankful and grateful we are for every single person who chooses to come see us and support us. We know you have options. We know you could spend your time and your hard earned money somewhere else, and the fact that you choose us means more than you probably realize.

And this isn’t just about supporting OUR business. It’s about supporting LOCAL whenever you can!

Grab lunch from the little local spot. Shop with a local vendor or boutique. Call the local repairman. Try that family-owned business you keep seeing people post about!

We completely understand that sometimes you want a chain restaurant or store and sometimes they’re simply more convenient. There’s nothing wrong with that! We do it too. But when you have the opportunity, remember the small businesses in your community.

Because when you spend money locally, you’re helping real people keep doing what they love. You’re supporting families, employees, dreams, and the community you call home.

So thank you to everyone who showed up today, and thank you to everyone who continues to support us and all the other small businesses around us.

Support local when you can. It truly matters more than you know.

Good morning! The other day, someone asked me where the name LeftField BBQ came from, so I figured I’d share the story behind it.

BBQ wasn’t really a big part of my life growing up. My dad would barbecue here and there, but it was never something I saw myself getting into.

Then COVID happened. Like a lot of people, I found myself spending more time at home, and I picked up cooking as a hobby. At first, it was simply about cooking for my family and trying something new. They enjoyed it, encouraged me to keep going, and little by little, I found myself wanting to learn more.

Eventually, I became obsessed with learning how to cook a brisket and understanding the craft behind good BBQ. The more I learned, the more I realized how much there was still to learn and that’s still true today.

Somewhere along the way, I told myself that if I ever decided to take BBQ beyond just cooking for family and friends, I’d call it LeftField BBQ. Why? Because none of this was planned. BBQ came into my life completely unexpectedly and out of nowhere, or you could say, out of left field.

Fast forward to today, and LeftField BBQ has become more than an idea I had while cooking at home. I’ve been fortunate enough to cook for more people, continue improving my craft, and see something I never planned slowly turn into something real.

I’m still learning, still growing, and still figuring out where this road will take me. I don’t take any of the support, encouragement, or opportunities for granted. Every brisket, every cook, and every person who gives LeftField BBQ a chance means something to me.

And while I know there’s still a long way to go, I do have a goal. One day, when people in San Antonio think about BBQ, I want LeftField BBQ to be one of the names that comes to mind. Not because we’re trying to be bigger than anyone else, but because we put our heart into what we serve and take care of the people who support us.

This started with cooking for my family, and I never want to lose that feeling. No matter how much LeftField BBQ grows, I want it to always be about good food, good people, and serving the community that gave us an opportunity to grow.

Sometimes the best things in life really do come out of left field.

We’ve been preparing all week for a 5-day out-of-town event next week, so we’re keeping things simple this Saturday!

We’ll have almost everything you love on the menu, with the exception of Dino ribs, sausage, turkey, and potatoes…..but, we’re excited to add our Chipotle Takedown Bowl to the menu (limited amount)! For some reason, it just hits different with a cold, refreshing sweet tea.

Speaking of drinks, Sip & Sit will have tea available, along with a variety of other cold beverages, and, of course, the best coffee in the city!

Important reminder: We WILL be open this Saturday, but we will be CLOSED September 26.

So come hungry and help us SELL OUT this Saturday! We can’t wait to serve you!

Good Morning!

Woke up feeling extra grateful today for all the love and support we continue to receive. To our friends and family who keep showing up, hanging out, and supporting us, thank you! And to all the new friends we’ve made since setting up at the coffee shop, we’re so thankful for each of you. It truly means more than you know!

A little heads-up on our schedule: We WILL be open this Saturday, but the following week, Sept. 23–27, we’ll be out of town for a 5-day event!

So if you’ve been wanting to come see us, stop by this Saturday! We’d love to see
