And Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX on June 19th to render the words that had been inscribed on General Orders No. 3. Nearly two and half years after President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, those of African descent in Texas were finally FREE. But because Texas was so geographically isolated under Confederate control, Black people in Texas were still enslaved… until they weren’t.

Got a call from ATLANTA for a super last minute coconut cake with coconut icing! I had less than 24 hours to get it together and I was able to pull it off for her 65 year old cousin and Eagles fan! She wanted simple. Simple, simple, simple but moist and tasty and divine! When I asked her how she found out about us, she said GOOGLE! That’s what I’m talking about! And presentation is everything!
