A FAMILY BUSINESS

We spent most of our childhood enjoying wonderful food across Tuscany and California. Our time in California gave us a craving for Mexican food, so back in Italy, if we could get our hands on the right ingredients, we would make huge batches of salsa that would sadly spoil after a few days. We had the idea to add a few spoonfuls of sauerkraut starter culture into the salsa; this

jump-started the fermentation process making the salsa stay fresh for weeks, giving it a bright, fizzy flavor. Who would have thought that German sauerkraut brine over Mexican pico de gallo would give such good results! Our garden often produced harvests larger than we could handle, so what better way to preserve them than fermenting them!? Sasha incorporated extensive background experience with wine production from Italy, and Niccolo brought inspiration for flavors collected from all around the world during his career as a scuba instructor. In 2020, we decided to go all-in on our vision to merge cultures in the name of preserving the foods we love, and Alive Ferments was born! Today, Alive Ferments makes probiotic fermented foods full of life that are easy to digest and full of healthy probiotics.

I spotted someone in the grocery aisle heading straight for our Cultured Chili Sauce fridge! 🥳✨

Every bottle sitting on that shelf represents months of early mornings and hours of hand work. Plus, the quiet insecurity that people would actually love traditionally fermented food, it never really goes away 🫣🤭

Then you see someone picking that bottle up and putting it in their cart like it’s the most natural thing in the world: that’s the moment I live for, my biggest satisfaction 🤩🫶

You can’t imagine how it feels when you realize people are choosing your products over others and they enjoy it. I really want to thank everyone who has tried Alive Ferments at least once, you are the reason I keep going 🙏❤️

The first time I tasted real kimchi, it changed everything. One bite. That’s all it took.

I was overwhelmed and I became obsessed with understanding how to recreate it 🤯

The complexity, the layers of flavor, the perfect balance of spice, tang, funk, and umami. It wasn’t just fermented cabbage, it was centuries of tradition in every bite 😋

👉That’s what I do at Alive Ferments: trying to respect the craft, understand the process, and bring that same dedication to every jar I make.

August 23rd, 2023... what a day!

We were launching our new line of products with one of our most recent labels. It was so fun setting up in the open air, handing out samples, and watching your reactions while you tried our newest fermentations! 🦠💚

That “wait, this is actually good” moment? Never gets old. 🫶✨

We love these days, when we can gather our community without any screen in the middle: just fermented food and the people who eat it. 😋

⏰5 AM. Just me and 40 lbs of cabbage 🥬
