Great ideas come when we challenge the way we make things.
In 2007, Thomas Heatherwick asked: how could we step away from the standard form of chairs?
Is there a rotationally symmetrical geometry that could turn into a comfortable seating object, without legs, seat and backrest?
It was the beginning of a long series of tests with shapes and materials, eventually leading to a large wooden prototype.
Magis saw the revolutionary potential of that experiment and stepped in, refining the shape and optimising it for industrial production with rotational-moulding technology.
Spun was officially launched in 2010, becoming a worldwide success thanks to its unconventional design and playful nature.
Its unique design, capable of engaging people of all ages and cultures while challenging the conventions, was awarded the Compasso d’Oro ADI in 2011.
