We thought making our second flavor would be easier. We were wrong 😂

8 months ago, we started working on our second flavor with plans to launch in August. Well, it’s October and we’re just now getting there.

We ran into a few things we definitely didn’t see coming. Let’s just say we have a newfound respect for anyone who develops food products.

Getting the flavor right without using natural flavors was a lot harder than we expected. We tested SO many versions, made a LOT of muffins, and kept thinking we were finally done.

And because we’re making these for our own kids too, we wanted to make sure we actually loved the final recipe.

We finally got there. Or at least we thought we did...

Then we got an email 🙃

Turns out designing packaging is mostly making 100 tiny decisions and then questioning all of them. 😂

We knew our packaging could do a better job telling you what actually makes Birdie Bakes different. And as we started adding more flavors, we needed packaging that could grow with us and still make sense on the shelf.

What we did not know was how many versions it would take to get there.

We changed colors, moved copy around, added claims, took them off, put them back on 😂 and spent WAY too much time debating things most people will probably never notice.

But we’re finally done!! One last look at the process before we show you the new bags 👀

11 months ago, our packaging only had one job...launch our Banana Muffin Mix.

Now we’re launching a second flavor, and it turns out launching a second flavor is way more complicated.

Once we started designing, we quickly realized this packaging wasn’t just about creating another bag.

It was about making sure every flavor instantly feel like Birdie Bakes, and somehow communicate, in two seconds, that we’re not just another muffin mix.

We’re made with real fruits and veggies 🥕🍌🍎, 50% less sugar than leading mixes, and our protein and fiber come from whole foods. Oh... and it still has to stand out on a crowded shelf.

A few weeks ago, we asked you for help. Tons of comments later, we went back to the drawing board. We’re getting close... we think. 💛
