A few weeks ago, we mentioned a Cabernet that had crossed our table and stayed on our minds. It has officially arrived.
2024 Reclamación Cabernet Sauvignon · Sonoma Valley 🍷
Deep ruby in the glass. Blackcurrant, dark cherry and black plum lead into dried herbs, cedar, graphite and an earthy undertone. The tannins are firm but polished, with freshness carrying through a long, composed finish.
This is Cabernet with structure, but not excess.
The fruit comes from Wheeler Vineyard in Sonoma Valley and spends 16 months in neutral French oak — a restrained approach that keeps the fruit and vineyard firmly in view.
But this is also why we chose it for Kascadia.
Reclamación represents a changing generation of California w**e — one where place, heritage, farming and ownership are part of the same conversation.
Mexican-American w**emaker David Salazargrew up among the vineyards of southern Monterey County. His father managed vineyards there, and Salazar’s earliest understanding of w**e came from seeing firsthand the skill, agricultural knowledge and year-round work required to grow the fruit behind California w**e.
He went on to study viticulture and enology at Fresno State and build his w**emaking experience in California and New Zealand before establishing Reclamación.
His perspective is rooted in something generations of California w**e have depended upon: the knowledge of the people who tend its vineyards. Reclamación brings that history from behind the bottle to the front of it.
